Amh levels

I’ve just been to my consultant a they said my levels are high. There 74 an anything over 45 your high risk of over stimulating. So I have to freeze my eggs for a month, so I can recover before they put it back in to me. Just wondering if anyone else has been in the same situation?

hi Shelly, delays are the worst in this process. Not the same but Iv had to pause transfer, I went in for a scan on Monday and was advised that I can’t transfer because of my high progestrone levels . When I started the process (before meds) it was at 0.4 then after meds I’m on 7.4 In just 6 days of meds & injections. Dr told me we can’t proceed I have to wait for the new year now. I guess this is we’re we need to be grateful that atleast they are picking up what can potentially be a risk right(just trying to keep positive)

hi Shelley. My amh was also high (although not as high as yours) so I also had a freeze all cycle. In the end it was great for me! Meant I got a couple of months between egg collection and embryo transfer to relax and have some wines.

I do remember being really frustrated at the time though because I had no OHSS symptoms at the time and the wait is excruciating, but it was all worth it for the BFP I got after transfer, which may not have been the case if we had gone fresh.

I had a high AMH and ended up getting 21 eggs collected and they did a freeze all because of risk of hyperstimulation. I guess there's always a chance you might get an average number of eggs and could be fine? My clinics cut off for being able to do a fresh transfer was under 18 eggs collected. Seems like number of eggs plays more of a role than AMH. My clinic actually adjusted my meds towards the end of stims because I was so set on doing a fresh transfer so they tried to control number of eggs! Needless to say it was out of my hands but in the end it ended up just as it was meant to be, because we PGTA tested 4 of the best embryos (we had 10 total that got frozen) and of the 4, 2 came back normal and 2 abnormal. One of the abnormal ones was the 'highest grade' embryo and would have been transferred first if I did a fresh transfer. So looking back, I trust the process and even though I was devastated at not being able to do a fresh transfer (I cried a lot on retrieval day which is when I was told) it all worked out for the best and I'm pregnant now following the first frozen transfer of the cycle ♥️ so good luck and take the month in-between to rest and enjoy life before transfer!

aww thankyou I’m glad everything worked out for you. They’ve started me on metformin and inofolic as I have PCOS and endometriosis so she said it will help, I’m happy that if I have more eggs left frozen, she said I can use them free of charge as it’s classed as the same round which was great to hear as I would love a sibling x

Hi Shelly. Yes, that can happen, and you can become very poorly. I would trust your specialist who wants this to work for you too. Drink plenty of water and good luck! Diane

Hi Shelly, I have AMH of 58. First egg collection they collected 29 eggs, and second collection 27 so I had to do a freeze all. It is disappointing to have to wait, but really it's much better for your body. I didn't get OHSS as I was given a different trigger to reduce the likelihood, but it still took about 4-5 days to recover from the egg collection, so my body wouldn't have been ready for a fresh transfer. We are now pregnant from the first FET of the second cycle.

We had to do two collections due to very poor sperm quality, which is the reason we were doing IVF (I have PCO but not PCOS, so ovulate naturally). Hopefully if the sperm is good you will get enough embryos to only have to do one collection - that's the advantage of high AMH! We also did PGTA which requires a freeze all anyway.

hi Shelly, I have an AMH of 112.4 and have never been able to have a fresh transfer and every stim cycle has resulted in severe ohss. I’ve had 3 successful FETS - 2 medicated (1 now ten year old boy, and 1 mmc) & the 1 natural fet - currently pregnant as of about 4 days ago :) - so I would say there is a lot to be said for the fet and how you get to completely heal and be ready for it xx
