I’m aware this sounds crazy but my AMH level was 6.9 a year ago and I’ve just had the results back from Monday and it’s now 9! The clinic wanted me to do it again as it’s been a year so I was preparing myself for a lower result. The nurse won’t commit to explaining (which I understand) and I’m waiting to hear back from my consultant. We have a phone call booked in for Friday morning (on the grounds that the levels would have dropped so we would need to manage expectations for the next round) but I def wasn’t expecting this. I’ve asked if I can speak to her sooner so she can explain. Any thoughts would be fab.
Thank you xx

Wow that’s a mad variation. I know it could vary a bit but didn’t realise it could vary that much. I’ve also been taking (even) more supplements so also wondered if it was that. Thanks for sharing xx
I think to be honest it has dropped considerably over the past couple of years - I guess the variation to focus on is similar range to yours i.e. 9 to 11.9
I can't believe it can vary much and I really hope its because of all our hard work! Something has got to come of it surely! xx
Oh wow great for you that it went up. I was just SO convinced it was going to go down or that it was an error that I’m just a bit gobsmacked! Hopefully it’s not an error🤞. Xx
Hifer,
Mine went from 22 to 33 in an 18 month period (age 37 to 39). I did nothing other than an IVF cycle in this time. Also, doing IVF age 41 my AMH was 22 again.
My presumption is that a bit like FSH that you are only as bad as your lowest result (or as good as your best one) recognising FSH results do shift month to month too.
Also, from my experience my varying AMH has had little impact on the number of follicles and eggs retrieved from each IVF cycle. It’s always been about the same, the variation being the quality of the eggs that come out / reach blast (which is a bit like a game of bingo in my view).
No one has ever given me a good explanation for this phenomenon 🤷🏻♀️.
Thanks a lot for your message. That’s a couple of quite big jumps there! I think the whole of IVF is like a game of bingo you’re right. A total lottery. Xx
I don't super trust these AMH tests. They seem to change by clinic, when taken, and prob lifestyle too. Despite the trust issues I have with AMH, I would love for mine to go up and I am v happy for you! 😊👍
