I’m flying to Spain next week for an FET and have to take my Clexane with me, it comes in a pre-filled syringe. Looked at the airline’s website, and it says to carry in hand luggage in a clear bag with a doctor’s prescription or letter.
Please has anyone done this and is this enough? Thank you xx
Hi, I’ve travelled with needles quite a bit. I carry it in hand luggage and have the prescription and letter from the pharmacy / doctor outlining what it’s for. I’ve only had it checked once to be honest and they checked the prescription matched the drugs I was carrying. When it goes through security I just have it out separately like you would with your liquids. Hope that helps! Good luck x

Hi, I've traveled a few times with various medications including needles. I always carry them in my hand luggage with the presription or letter from my Doctor saying why I need the medication. I've not once had an issue, no one has even stopped me to ask what it is. It is daunting flying with injectable medications at first, but it's very routine for a lot of people (for example, diabetics), so you are very unlikely to experience any issues.

I’ve travelled a few times and carried them in my hand luggage, kept my script. In the past I’ve put some needles in our hold luggage as the needles are inexpensive compared to the meds. For this transfer all my meds will be in hand luggage as we are travelling for 4 days. The drugs we need to get in Spain will hopefully fit in our hand luggage between my husband and I. The pharmacy in Spain gave me a letter to explain what i was carrying but I’ve never been asked. I’m always a bit nervous about losing them or being challenged about what I was carrying but everything has been fine so far at the airports, they must see it all the time!

hiya I have travelled home and to Spain a number of times. I’ve always put a handful in hand luggage (meds and needles) enough to get me a few days if the bags are lost and all the rest in baggage. I came home last time with 9 weeks worth one week in hand luggage and the rest in baggage. I have a prescription on me but have never been stopped xxx

I checked my bag, just in case. But it should be fine, considering diabetics have to carry needles and insulin with them on planes. People have to carry all kinds of medications, so I'm sure it's a normal thing.
hiya! I just travelled to Greece Sunday from Gatwick, I had fridge medication, extra needles, and pre-filled stuff. I just mentioned to the guy helping the bags to be checked through security that I had medication on me, and he said to leave everything in my bag (liquids, all meds etc) I was shocked it didn’t get checked. But just be prepared with a letter from your doctor, prescription and I took some of the packaging (as I had removed some of mine). Best of luck

Hi yes I have done this twice now. I had no problems at all. I made it clear to the security I had them and asked if they needed to be taken out of the bag. I was told No. I even took the used needles back. Again no problems. I did take letters with me. They really paid no attention whatsoever. Far more concerned with the standard stuff, laptops liquids and the opened coffee I took back with me!
I have travelled often with them by air and eurostar and never got stopped, just put them in clear bag as normal liquids.
yep I’ve done it as well & had a letter from the doctor but to be honest they didn’t look at it or the suringes

I just wanted to say thank you for asking this question because it’s one that has been on my mind too. I’m not even at egg collection stage yet but will be travelling to Cyprus for that and hopefully FET afterwards too so glad to know that it should be fine travelling with needles and medication. ❤️
I travelled to Spain with the same needles, my clinic gave me a letter to take just incase but I wasnt even stopped at security, seems very common these days x
Yes I did and that was fine. As long as you have a letter and show them at airport security. We came back from Prague with needles then back again from the UK to prague and all fine 🙂

And success rate?i have done 2 fet in london through NHS unfortunately no luck ☹ so the next cycle is last one. ..i am thinking about it if i try somewhere else in Europe but have no idea about price (i wish i could afford it)wish u all very very best of luck sending baby dust on all of u🥰
It’s cheaper than the UK, but you’ll have to factor in travel, hotels and the logistics of taking time off etc.
You’ll probably find that choices made are dependent on people’s circumstances. I went for Spain because I needed donor eggs and short or no waiting lists.
