Ever heard of hydrosalpinx? Neither had I.

Hello

We've had 7 egg pickups in the last 18 months. As a result we have 2 x frozen embryos'. We had 1 x chemical pregnancy. And then 6 months ago I learned I had hydrosalpinx. I also have Stage 4 endo which is chronic and has grown back after having it removed 5 years ago.

So on Wednesday, I'm pleased to say that I had surgery. I had both tubes removed. I had endo removed from my bladder. And the surgeon also 'freed up' my ovaries which had been stuck to the uterus thanks to the endo.

I am 40 years old. I need 13 weeks to recover before I start my next round of IVF.

I'm feeling positive. More positive than before

The photo's were awful. Endo is a horrible thing, and my insides were glued together. Including my uterus glued to my rectum. (Yep)

Anyone else relate?

Hopefully my uterus heals well, and I can continue trying to make babies.

hi just wanted to say hope your recovery goes well from the surgery , sounds like you’ve been through a lot

Endometriosis is an awful disease, I have it but haven’t had to have excision surgery just yet.

Wishing you all the best for your next steps with the ivf too , good to hear your feeling positive x

Good luck with your recovery. I don't have Endometriosis but will be having a surgery soon which I am hopeful will address my fertility issues but will require a long recovery. I have done ivf and also have two frozen embryos waiting and I am a similar age so find your experience very relatable. I am feeling quite anxious for the surgery and recovery so can imagine how you are feeling and send you positive energy and best of luck for to your ultimate goal stay positive 🙏🏾

Heya,

I’m glad you were able to have your surgery and now able to carry on with fertility stuff.

I have stage 4 endo also and had a hydrosalpinx. I had excision surgery at the end of 2020 and the hydrosalpinx surgery 6 months later to clip it. After a second round of IVF following a miscarriage I’m currently pregnant. It’s still very early though. I’ve still got my womb stuck to my bowel but they said to have surgery on this after fertility stuff as the recovery is a lot longer. I hope your recovery is going ok, and I’ll be keeping everything crossed for you for your next round!

xx

Hi VMJ. My feelings are that you are giving IVF a better chance by ridding yourself of the hydrosalpinges (plural spelling)! Any excess lubrication that couldn't drain away, would leak into the womb , causing a developing embryo to have difficulty in implanting. Rest well, and I wish you every good wish for a successful cycle next time. Diane

I know it’s very late to reply but I just saw this post today and I feel I’d like to reach out to you because I can definitely relate. I’m currently planning to attempt a 5th try, with a different clinic because the one we’ve been attending is sort of discouraging us from doing another cycle unless we’re taking the DE route. Strated the IVF journey when we’re 37 and we’re now 40. Endometriosis, stage IV, have seem to affect the egg quality negatively. And after a laparoscopy to excise endometriosis, remove endometrioma and multiple uterine fibroid, my AMH was reduced from 13 to 3. So we only got 2 eggs from subsequent cycles with such low amh. Really disheartening.. The endometrioma is now recurring and Hydrosalpinx is joining the misery party. Now I’m in the waiting list to remove it, or if I’m really lucky bilateral salpingectomy! Yay. I’d love to hear how you got on VMJ007 hope it went well. Bulan
