ERA process

Hi everyone,

I had a consultation yesterday to plan for ERA but I've now confused myself on what medication you take when and for how long for an ERA test. My consultant said that I'd contact them when I reach day 1 of my next cycle then take progesterone for 5 days then oestrogen for 10 days but I've been searching on the internet and see that there is a bleed in between so now I'm confused on dates and wondering if the ERA will clash with my planned holiday in November.

Please can someone help with providing a dummies guide to ERA medicated!?

Thank you in advance

hi lovely,

For my ERA I did a full mock FET (with the biopsy taken on the day that would be the transfer).

So oestrogen to thicken the lining as per usual, then when it’s reached the 8mm started progesterone for 5 days, then biopsy.

First scan was day 2 of my cycle.

Xx

Hi Millbanks, thanks for your message. I've never done a FET before so I don't know what the usual process is. So is it correct that I take progesterone on day 19 of my next cycle for 5 days then wait for a bleed, then on day 2 of my bleed go for a scan, then 10 days of oestrogen to thicken the lining, then progesterone for 5 days then biopsy? Sorry for the questions I'm trying to work out day by day what happens. Do you have scans whilst on oestrogen or just the progesterone? Thanks v much x

so you usually start oestrogen on the first day of your bleed, then you start progesterone when your lining is thick enough, not on a certain day of your cycle xx

Hi MollyRobs. I think "Millbanks" has outlined it well, but check with your clinic too. Good luck! Diane

hiya I started estrogen tablets day 2 of my period for 13 days then had a scan. Then I did 5 days of estrogen and progesterone. Then the biopsy. I would give ur clinic a call I think everyone might be slightly different but the same process if that makes sense xxx

hi MollyRobs

Just wanted to add to the above that there are different routes which change timings.

Medicated is longest and starts day 19 or 21 to down regulate and then you have a bleed, possibly a scan a week after, then another scan about day 10 and get a date to start the progesterone before ERA biopsy. Or partial medicated you start day 1/2 then scan on day 10 and progestone as above.

Your clinic should be able to give you a print out of your protocol so you know a rough timescale and which of the routes you will be going down - they tend to prefer medicated as controls the timing for them and less cancel of cancellation if they are busy or it falls over a weekend.

Hope that helps and good luck.
