I just wanted a little bit of advice about DHEA. Before I started taking DHEA I took a testosterone and DHEA-S blood test. Both came back above normal for my age. I’ve started taking a small amount of DHEA (10mg) but it really doesn’t seem to agree with and I’m still struggling it. Any advice or guidance on if this is normal or not would be really helpful, thank you xx

My only info on this comes from It Starts with the Egg, where she says doctors like to see women with levels at the upper end of normal. It's possible you already have levels above this even without supplementation, so you may not need it?

If unsure of dosage ask the doctor/clinic who prescribed it for you Thinking of you - take care

My drs have just left me to it and said it was cheaper to order it online. They told me to take 25mg three times a day without checking any of my testosterone or DHEA-S levels. It was only from my research and advice from this site thats helped me. Just feeling on my own with it all xx
Please just be careful taking it. My levels were average for my age (42 so low compared with what they are for someone younger). I was taking it at a low dose (compared to what some people were taking) and my levels shot up to dangerous levels. So do make sure you get regular blood tests to check how your body responds to it. I've been on it for 2 cycles and so far it seems to have made no difference compared to my cycles without it.
Hi Mitco, I took blood tests before I started and they were: DHEA-S was 8.32 umol/L and my testosterone was 1.51 nmol/L both seem to be in the upper limits of normal. This was before I started taking the DHEA. I’ve stopped taking it as I’m not sure it’s helping and it’s making me feel really unwell. I was only taking 10mg but from what people have suggested and the research I’ve done my levels are above average anyway. I suspect when I was taking the DHEA it was tipping me into the danger zone. Thank you for replying xx
