Following my first failed round, I've just been informed by the clinic following a meeting that the blastocyst I had transferred was 'ok' and the 4 that got to day 6 but couldn't be frozen were 'not great'. So good numbers but not top quality. On the transfer day they said it was a great looking blastocyst so I had thought it was top quality - I never asked about grades. Feeling disappointed. My boyfriend has good sperm so it's likely to be my egg quality. They've advised me to buy DHEA which may help with the quality? Any idea what dosage I should take and where's best to get it in terms of brand and cost? Thank you. I also will be living as healthily as possible - a controlled Xmas!!! X

Oh pants hunny, I didn’t realise you have to go and buy DHEA yourself!! I’m sure I’ve seen ladies mention it on here before, hopefully someone will see this post! Hugs xx
Can’t help with the DHEA I’m afraid, but lots of people on here talk about it so I’m sure someone will help.
Might be worth getting your hubbie to take vitamins as well though... the sperm count doesn’t show whether there is high fragmentation in the sperm and if there is, the solution is anti oxidant vitamins. My hubbie wasn’t keen at first as his count was good but I persuaded him by pointing out we needed super sperm with my old eggs! I also felt better that I wasn’t the only one popping pills. Turned out that we do actually have a male factor so now I feel justified in having bought the vitamins for him!
My partner has been taking wellman conception tablets daily since April 👍x Sorry to hear you ended up getting male factor thrown into the mix when you didn't to start with! Thanks for replying x
My husband was in wellman for 8 months too and had good motility, morphology and count from the NHS tests. When we went private we found out he has high fragmentation and the doctor said wellman wouldn’t be sufficient. He needed to take proxeed or fertilix. They are considerably more expensive though so may be worth asking your consultant about for your own situation.
look at some of my earlier posts. I took it and definitely think it improved egg quality. make sure it's micronized which means buying from USA. my friend there buys me them and posts over. xx
Hi, in my first round of ivf I was told to take 3 tablets of DHEA a day (I think they were 20mg each, I think) I did this for 3 months prior to my ivf starting. I got 4 eggs, 1 died and 3 hatched to full 5 day blastos. 1 grade AA the other 2 AB. My first AA resulted in my 3 year old daughter and I’m now 6w 1d with my 3rd and final frozen emby. If I was to have ivf again, I would defo I rely use DHEA x
Thanks for replying! But my post is 3 years old! Congrats on your ivf success, and I’m pleased to say DHEA gave me good results and I have a 7 month old son now 💙 xx
