Testing after egg transfer

Hi everyone… quick question: is anyone doing a blood test as well as a urine test after the TWW post transfer? My nhs clinic said I only meed a urine sample however I have read a lot here that blood is more accurate than urine especially in the early days of pregnancy as urine can give you a false positive/negative 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think lots of clinics are different. We have only ever had urine tests at 14dpt which is very different to lots of clinics! I suppose by 14 days in, a negative pregnancy test is a fair clear result.

A lot of clinics only do urine tests but you may be able to pay your clinic for a blood test but you are supposed to have two 48hrs apart to check it’s doubling. Good luck x

Our clinic (nhs and private) just have you do a urine pregnancy test at home and it’s never not been accurate for me by test date. Use a first response early response or a clear blue digital for the clearest results. We have only ever had blood tests because of complications (bleeding) and that was to check of the levels were as expected and doubling.

Personally the thought of having to travel into a clinic, doing a blood test and then having to wait hours for the results to know if it’s worked or not would be torture- or even worse having done a pregnancy test at home (because there is no way I could wait) and knowing it’s negative and still having to travel in, get bloods taken and then hear someone phone me to tell me it’s negative when I already know that would be adding insult to injury so I much prefer the way our clinic does it tbh xx

My clinic gets me to do another urine pregnancy test 2 days later if the result of the first one is negative and I understand they get you to come in for a blood test if you get a positive pregnancy test!

Hi ClaCli. I think you will find that most NHS clinics rely on a urine test, so if you are worried about a result, make sure you use a good quality test strip. Blood testa re usually reserved for problems. Diane

Hi! My clinic only does blood tests. Mine is tomorrow. I’d probably prefer to test myself at home but haven’t done that as the clinic advise you not to and I always play by the rules 😂
