Pessary advice

Hi everyone,

Just wanted some advice on taking cyclogest pessaries please. I am due to start them tomorrow and I have been told to take 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening. So that will be 4 cyclogest (1600mg) per day! For those of you who have taken this much - did you insert the 2 pessaries together each morning and evening? Or spread them out a bit more? I haven't been given any specific instructions (literally was written 2 am 2 pm) And from what I've seen online did you find you needed to lie down afterwards? Do you prefer to insert front or back passage (sorry, personal question!)

Any advice much appreciated, thank you x

I had a different protocol so little advice about number (was on one twice a day). I used front so to speak and lay down for about 15 mins after on nurse advice or sat down with legs firmly closed because sorry to be crude but I found they come out otherwise. I did them 6am and 6pm just to time to my injections. Hope someone else can answer the dose question for you.

I am on one twice a day as well. I am doing front as well and lie down after for 20 mins. I am doing it 9:00 am and 9:00 pm as my et was planned for 8:30 am and they asked me to take it after that. So started accordingly.

In my previous cycle I had another one called utrogestan, I did 2 three times a day and did them at the same time.

Hi there,

I used same as you and for various gynae reasons decided to use them back passage. I mean, none of this is pleasant 😅 but all things considered it actually wasn't bad at all and there was no need to lie down or wait about just insert and go and no mess!! unlike front use where you end up with leakage.

Good luck with your cycle! Xx

I have had to take 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening, you insert them directly one after the other. Don’t spread them out as the intention is to have the full dose prescribed at that one time. I’ve always done them rectally it’s so much easier and less messy x

Also yes agree with the other post above if you do them rectally you don’t have to lay down can just carry on as normally and walk about etc. Due to their shape and material they slide in so easy it takes a second x

I’ve always done back passage, like others have said no no leakage and no need to lie down after (just comedy marble poos 😂). Good luck! Xx

I did both together and didn’t lie down. Couldn’t do the back🫣just used light pads to catch the residue xx not as bad and it seems and all for the greater good ❤️🤞🏻🍀😘

I only had to do 1 in AM and 1 in PM. Started of doing it vaginally but after few weeks due to bleeding in early pregnancy started using it rectally and wished I had done so sooner! So much easier, no mess from leaking, not worrying about it leaking out and no irritation to the vagina.

If doing it vaginally due to work times and activity I never lay down and just carried on immediately plus also not always inserting them at the same times. Sometimes 8am and then 9pm and then 7am etc due to work commitments… never seem to have been a problem not taking it exactly 12hrs apart. But of course check with your clinic.
