Pessaries and festivals?!

Hi all,

Sorry for the slightly random post but if all goes well at our tracking scan on Tuesday, I'll start taking x3 pessaries a day in advance of our first FET cycle, however, next Thursday - Sunday we're due to go to Latitude Festival.

I've read so many posts about the pessaries being messy so am wondering whether I'm being a bit naive in still planning to go to the festival when I'll be essentially camping with portaloos. Is it going to be an absolutely bleeding nightmare not only inserting them but then having messy sanitary towels or is it really not that bad and I just need to chill out and go with it?

Any advice welcomed! Thank you :) x

I use mine rectally so there's no mess at all x

How come your taking three a day? I've only ever done two a day x

Not sure! I've had a search and there are definitely other people who have been told to have 3 - I guess it depends on the clinic? x

Im on 3 a day as my 2 natural cycles before this round I had low progesterone despite ovulating. I mix them up front and back, so would suggest them up the back for the festival 👍🏼

Haha thanks - it's a surreal conversation to have. Up the back it is! Thanks! x

I also mainly went with hole number 2 but it did give me a bit of an urgent need to go to the loo about 30 min to 1 hour after inserting them. Not sure if others experienced the same thing but might be something to bear in mind at a festival

That's good to know - so pop it in and join a loo queue straight away! Haha! Thanks x

I had three a day for two weeks and with a pantyliner I was more than fine. Don't worry and enjoy the festival!

You'll be fine! Try and get applicators with your prescription, they are hygienic, easy to use and cut down a bit on the mess. Pantyliners are a must as the capsule cases are notoriously messy. Still, you'll do it once and then you'll wonder what all the fuss was about! Is it fun? No...not really...but it becomes second nature very quickly. Been on mine for 6 weeks already, another 4 to go.

Best of luck but am sure you willbe A- OK xx

I've definitely got applicators ready and raring to go - thanks! x

You will be fine! The loos at latitude are very nice - may be another thing at glasto... I also do them rectally which means that you don't get any mess and also saves me getting irritation from them. Weird doing the first one but surprisingly easy. Enjoy latitude! X

Thanks - never been before, hence the concern! That's really good to know, thank you x

Loads of hand sanitizer in the loos plus water to wash your hands - it'll be absolutely fine! Have fun!

I work for the pharma industry on R&D and can tell you that 3 a day increased the levels of progesterone hence increase chances of implementation. This has been proven by several studies over the years. I requested 3 a day although doctor said my levels were normal.

I also suggest back passage. A bit of a tip to avoid going to the loo before the pessaries had the chance to be absorbed is to try and have bowel movements before inserting the pessaries. In my the times that I did unfortunately had to go after I inserted the pessaries, and absorption was not complete I inserted another one just to insure high levels.

That's very helpful to know, thank you.

I use panty liners and that is fine for me. I do change them a few times throughout the day in this heat. xxx

Hi busybee Im taking 3 a day and hate the leakage that comes with it. I usually use a panty liner or days when I know I'm out walking around a bit I have used a tampon. Must say not a fan of them and think is things are successful you have to continue them for a while after the treatment. Also just a heads up I find the applicators really annoying to use and the pessary usually gets stuck in it so I just insert them manually. X
