8 weeks and woke up to brownish red light bleeding - worried UPDATE

Hi everyone,

So I’ve just woken up and I’ve had a light bleed it’s brownish red, but could’ve been more red as it has all dried (sorry I know it’s tmi). I had a scan done on Saturday evening and baby looked fine and was measuring well at 8 weeks 2 days. They did see a blood pocket in my lining. The ovaries were both quiet and normal.

Do you think this is the cause? Should I go to the A&E or just monitor it? I don’t have any cramping or anything? Although in hindsight last night I did for about a millisecond have a little pain my right ovary?

Sorry I’m just really worried and scared atm

I think I’d always say that for peace of mind you should at least call your clinic. Otherwise you’ll be worrying for a while. It could be nothing but hearing it from a professional will help xx

Thank you, I just spoke with them and my consultant said it’s common and nothing to worry about, but to keep an eye on it. I booked a scan for this afternoon for peace of mind xx

Aww that's good. Hard not to worry though.. Good luck this arvo xx

Agreed although hopefully they will alleviate your worries. Some people have lots of unexplained bleeding and go on to have healthy bouncing babies so perhaps a little overnight is fine too. As long as the cervix is closed all is fine. If there is no more bleeding they will ask you to keep an eye on it and to get in touch if you start bleeding heavier. Try to have a very relaxed day xx

Thanks for asking. The Scan went well, baby is looking safe and sound. Placenta is attached firmly and the lining around is nice and thick. The cervix was firmly closed. However, there was a small blood clot but they said nothing to worry about, which is probably what’s causing the bleeding. In the report they referred to it as minimal shedding of decidual tissue? Im too afraid to google so just going to trust that it’s nothing to worry about xx

in reply toSmang

I googled it for you - it's quite common and nothing to worry about. It's all down to fluctuating wretched hormones that can cause a slight imbalance! The scan sounded very positive so hopefully you can relax a bit now. Bleeding in pregnancy is always going to be disconcerting but it definitely seems to be quite common among many ladies and, in lots of cases, no cause for concern. Hope you're feeling reassured. Xx

I had this on and off with my (now 3yo) I was in and out of EPU, terrifying but all was ok. They used the term 'friable cervix' which just means it's prone to bleeding on and off. All was well my birth was all natural. Any doubts call them and they will scan you x

I just finished up with scan and baby looks good. The placenta is attached firmly and the lining around it is thick. The cervix is firmly closed. There was the blood clot, which they suspected is causing the bleed - referred it to as minimal shedding decidual tissue. But said he doesn’t see any concern for worry. Anyone else heard of decidual shedding? I’m afraid to google it.

Also just wanted to say thanks to everyone for your support today xxx
