This pregnancy is really keeping me on my toes and I’m only 9 weeks in 🤯
We had our viability scan at our IVF clinic at 7 weeks and everything was fine but measuring a few days behind so they asked us to have another scan in a weeks time just for reassurance. Scan at 8 weeks showed baby has caught up (yay!) and we finally breathed out and thought we were out of the woods. The sonographer mentioned a small synchronic haemorrhage but said it wasn’t anything to worry about.
Last night after putting my little one to bed, I stood up and felt a gush. Rushed to the toilet to find I had bled through my underwear and my trousers. I had no bleeding at all in my previous pregnancy, only ever with my miscarriage so I was terrified. Went for a scan today and baby is doing fine thankfully and my SCH has significantly reduced in size. I’m getting a tiny bit of brown spotting now but nothing more really.
Just looking for others experiences with a SCH. Did you more than one bleeding episode? Is it likely to just resolve on its own now it’s bleed out and is much smaller. I haven’t contacted the EPU as yet, just had a private scan today so we could be seen quickly. Should I be resting or carrying on as normal?
Thanks for any help!♥️

Awww Kibo, it's just a massive head f@ck. I had some bleeding and spotting but not continuous....I'm sure you'll have seen my previous posts. Scares the absolute sh!t out of you. I know scans help at that precise moment in time but the fear kicks in literally as you get home. It is common, as I'm sure you've seen here so much!! Feet up and take it easy kiddo! Xx
That’s exactly it! It’s a short lived relief 🤪Trying to take it easy but easier said than done with an 11 month old! Just seen your pic of the boys, god they are bloody cute! Bet they are keeping you busy as well xx
Oh man - yay for today’s scan!! I don’t have any experience of a SCH (at least not as far as I’m aware..) but I totally feel you re: the mindf*** - I had an hour of light red bleeding (@ 6wks1d) with some mild cramping yesterday and figured it was all over, but then the bleeding stopped and my hcg/progesterone levels continue to rise.. 🤷🏻♀️ Awaiting scan tomorrow to see if heart beat still there etc. Am totally over this limbo. Really glad yours is explained and the haematoma is small and reducing 🙏🏻. Hang in there!!
Darling I had the exact same thing with second. A hematoma. I bled ferociously at 8 weeks and 10 weeks (like clumps sorry tmi) was sure I lost it twice but baby was fine! You should be resting according to my doctors and it should get smaller and eventually disintegrate xxxx
I had a SCH in my last pregnancy, and it was there for most of my first trimester. It scared the crap out of me, however I was told it is quite common and the doctors never seemed worried about it. It did reduce in size on its own thankfully. X
I had it in both pregnancies, really bad in my first, very heavy and big clots but baby was fine! I rested a bit but it resolved quickly each time x sounds like yours has resolved now 😊
Thank you lovely! Trying to as much as I can with my little one xx
Hi KiboXX I had a sudden loss of bright red blood when I went to the loo at 5 and a half weeks pregnant - I also was petrified and presumed I had miscarried as I felt like there was quite a lot and passed some large clots. When I went for my scan they could see a small haematoma (sorry can’t spell). I personally took bed rest for a week, but that’s because it was too early for my viability scan and it was the only thing I could think of doing to give myself any help or a better chance. I don’t know if it did make any difference, but our miracle baby kept growing and we’re now 19 weeks pregnant. I do check every time I wipe and go to the loo, I just can’t help it. But I haven’t bled since and it seems to have been reabsorbed and the sonographers can’t see any sign of it anymore. I did give myself complete pelvic rest (no sex) until I got passed 12 weeks, but again that was just personal choice not on the recommendation of a dr. Really hope things keep progressing well for your pregnancy xx
Thank you lovely, this is really helpful. I’m hoping what’s left of mine will be reabsorbed now but I’m totally with you on the constant knicker checking 🤯Congrats on your pregnancy, almost halfway! ♥️ Xx
Aww bless you this sounds super stressful!! No advice I’m afraid but just wanted to send hugs and say I hope you have a smother run from here on in lovely xxx
