I had my Double transfer yesterday as some of you will have read. My OTD is 8th March and I’m due my period 3rd or 4th march, this might be really silly but obviously if it works my period won’t happen but I just feel like there’s not enough time for the embies to do their thing before I’m due on. Particularly because my periods start with spotting for a days before (which is always nice 🙄) This might be ridiculous but you know, infertility makes you question your own name at times.
Thank you for any input ❤️
Edit: just thought is this what the progesterone stops? As you can tell never thought I’d get to this part so im out of my depth x

Hi thank you so much yes I am. I take pessaries 400 utrogestan twice per day. Sorry this seems so silly now I’ve just never even thought about the process of this point of it xx
Hi lovely, oh yes - IVF makes you question everything for sure!
The progesterone is what your body naturally produces each month to keep your uterus lining in tact so if you conceive the embryo will implant.
If you were trying naturally but didn't fall pregnant that month, then your body would shed the lining (as it does) due to the drop in progesterone - but in an IVF transfer you will continue to take progesterone until you know if it's worked either way.
So your body won't shed the lining until you stop taking it.
Thank you Mill this makes perfect sense, I promise I am not this thick usually 🤣 I’ve never known about progesterone because we never thought we’d even make a fertilised egg. Your help is appreciated as always 😊 xx
I always say how the hell does anyone get pregnant naturally it’s literally a miracle there’s so many things that need to happen to get anywhere near it xx
Hi just to add, I was taking progesterone and I didn’t make it to OTD. My period started when it was due and was really heavy even though I was still taking 400 Cyclogest twice a day. So I guess everyone is different.
IVF messes with your cycle anyway so maybe just try to focus on getting to OTD and call your clinic if you start spotting before then.
Thanks Peonie this is what worries me i just can't see that i'd get to OTD before AF but who knows. This whole thing just never fills me with any optimism which is a sad, but i'm a firm believer in protecting myself so maybe that's why. sorry to hear your cycle failed xx
Hey, please don’t worry. If you think about it you’re replicating what happens in a “natural” conception. The date of transfer is around the time when implantation would start ordinarily, so you should have enough time to implant (I think you’ve got around 10 days, which is the time it takes naturally). OTD is usually a few days after you would expect to be due on so they can be certain. Mine was scheduled for a whole week later.
But, there’s really nothing you can do so please try not to worry. If you notice anything just call your clinic. I really hope it works out for you!!
Hi Peonie as expected my period came the day it was due so frustrating because I knew it would so I didn’t make it to OTD. Have you tried again since this happened to you and what did you change if so, I hope you don’t mind me asking xx
Hi really sorry to hear that, it’s so frustrating. I haven’t tried since, but on my next transfer I’ll be taking lubion twice a day as well as Cyclogest twice a day. Hope your next transfer goes well x
