For anyone who has taken Heparin or Clexane

Why were you prescribed it and when did you start taking it? Before or after transfer?

I’ve learnt that blood clotting in the placenta may have had a part to play in my recent miscarriage.

I believe that aspirin, heparin and clexane are sometimes prescribed. I’m due to start FET prep in the next couple of weeks and will call the clinic to ask but keen to hear people’s experience!

Thanks ❤️

Thank you, was there any particular reason they prescribed it to you? Xx

Aspirin was a previous chemical and a past portal vein thrombosis as well as blood thinners xx

Hi after 3 failed IVF cycles I was prescribed clexaine from day of transfer & I have 3 beautiful kids as a result. In my experience I think it helped. Good luck x

I have been prescribed this also, had two unexplained failed IVF rounds. They have suggested taking clexaine injections daily after embryo transfer. Feel nervous about it don’t know why, so it’s reassuring to see some success stories in the above comments. Good luck xx

I started clexane twice a day alongside aspirin a week before my transfer and I’m still taking it at 31 weeks pregnant :) xx

I’ve had two miscarriages and have elevated anti-cardiolipin antibodies so the blood thinners was recommended as a treatment. My clinic however also use them as standard treatment. Best of luck to you xxx

Hi lovely, that's interesting to hear that the clotting may have been a part of your miscarriage. It must be a small relief to have some answers?

I'm so sorry you went through that :(

I took Inhixa (clexane) & Apsirin from the day I started Progesterone - so 5.5 days before transfer.

I don't have any known clotting issues but my consultant uses it as standard for each transfer to mitigate the possibility.

Best of luck

xx

That’s good to know, thank you. 😘Xx

To be honest it doesn’t provide me with any relief because it was all heavily caveated. You know what doctors are like… I’ve accepted that I probably won’t ever know why. I just wish it didn’t happen and that this wasn’t my reality. 😞 there’s no other choice though but to go on. Xx

All 4 cycles I've been given Inhixa (believe it's the same as clexane) from transfer day, and now that I'm pregnant i need to continue until 12 weeks. 8 + 4 so far. I wad on the same protocol for the other cycles so i don't know if it makes a difference in getting pregnant, but i do hear it can play a factor in staying pregnant!

I am currently on one clexane daily and have been since transfer day. I also take aspirin and again have been taking it from transfer day.

No not as such. I’ve had many failed ivf attempts and was told to give it a try to increase blood flow. I didn’t question it any further and whilst it stings straight after the injection, in the grand scheme of things it’s pretty Ok. I hope that starting these will make a difference for you

You should try to get a referral to a hematologist through your gp to see if you have any blood clotting issues. I have something called antiphospholipid syndrome so I've been on blood thinners since starting the stims for IVF. Still going at 32 weeks and will continue for 6 weeks after the birth. I take 2 daily doses of fragmin 5000 (injections) and 75mg aspirin. Good luck xo
