For my upcoming FET they will be putting me on 1 x 25mg Lubion and 1 x 400mg of cyclogest.
Is this new combo likely to be more effective? As I asked for whatever will work better and with the injections ..thinking they were the progesterone in oil, only to come home and do a bit of research find out they aren't :/ I just want what will work best.
Also been told they WON'T do a blood test to check my progesterone level but i will have to do the endomeTRIO test (which costs the same amount of a FET!) to check progesterone. All seems unfair as I really didn't want to do the test and just wanted a blood test to check my levels but I'm pushed for the endometrio test as its the only way they can check when the best time for my transfer is.
Sorry I'm on here everyday with a new question! If it wasn't for this community I'd be totally lost, so thanks in advance!

Hi dear, yes Cyclogest plus Lubion is the higher end of the progesterone dosage. I am on 2x400mg Cyclogest and 2x25mg Lubion a day. This has allowed me to keep high levels if 90-100 nmol of progesterone in the blood. The Era is good to find out how many hours of progesterone you need before your uterus is receptive to accommodate the embryo for the transfer. It doesn't tell you your level of progesterone though, that is just a blood test to check progesterone levels, are they going to do that as well as the ERA?xx
My clinic said they don't check progesterone levels at all and will not do a blood test and if i was to do one privately they also wont amend my meds based on what the results show.Based on that I guess Endometrio testing isn't the worst as i want to give it my best shot!
I had two losses on 2x 400mg cyclogest only but that could have been because they were fresh transfers and my body wasn't ready after stims and collection etc. My blood levels were always sky high on cyclogest even at lower doses so they definitely did what they were meant to in that sense and that's all that's needed for most women I think. My particular issue seems to be progesterone resistance/oestrogen dominance though so even with high blood levels, the uterus doesn't react properly. It's a long term issue and for me Ultrogestan vaginally (3 x 200mg) seemed a better option to get it where it's needed. I tried that and lubion for my successful FET. Only thing I'd say is when the lubion was upped to 2x lubion a day, it didn't make much difference to the levels, so I have a suspicion the main difference were the pessaries but who knows. I think most women are on cyclogest and that's what most clinics use and they say no difference in forms or how you use them, although you may be able to use them vaginally (I think, best check). Because it worked for me, I would probably try the same combination again.
On progesterone testing, if your clinic won't, ask your GP and/or get it done privately - I used MediChecks when I thought I'd exhausted my GP's patience and although they took a few days overall (the kit comes in the post and you send them back that way, and the lab doesn't do weekends) it was a finger prick test and the results were back within a day of them reaching the lab. You could also just book in with a private clinic that does blood tests person x
thank you for sharing! i will definitely look into getting a blood test done privately for peace of mind. My doctors are a pain to get a hold of so looks like MediChecks will be something i look into first! Congrats btw on your BFP! xx
I agree that you should have the progesterone test done privately. Your clinic might say now that they won't amend your prescription based on the results, but I find it hard to believe that they would outright refuse if your results came back super low. It's definitely worth you having the data. Good luck xx
