Does any of you ladies know which pregnancy supplements are best to take after BFP? (IVF)Some contain DHA and Omega 3 and some don’t? Some sites say to take omega 3 from 12 weeks? Is it safe to take at 4 weeks? Any help and advice appreciated. Thank you

A good all round pregnancy vitamin like pregnacare, seven seas etc is a good first step. I always take Omega Fish Oil with DHA as an additional supplement and additional vitamin D too x
Thanks for your reply. I’m taking the seven seas plus which includes omega 3 but was concerned as Dr Google said to take from 3 month. My doctor didn’t know and the nurse at clinic said they should be fine as long as they contain folic acid and bit D. X
Thanks, I’ve been taking pre-conception seven seas (pregnacare upset my tummy) but they didn’t contain Omega 3 and DHA plus I take additional Vit D and 5mg Folic Acid . I was just worried taking omega 3 this early on in pregnancy might harm the baby in some way, with Doctor Google saying take from 12 weeks? But the box just states during pregnancy x
Hi Baba. Usually a good quality multivitamin should be OK/ You can get them specially for pre conception and for pregnancy. They contain te correct amount of Folic Acid and Vitamin D. If you need anything else your midwife/GP will advise you/ Hope all continues as it should. Diane
My GP didn’t know and I haven’t got a midwife yet. Still very early days. Praying and hoping everything goes fine. This is my first ever BFP after 6 years and several failed ivf cycles 🤞🌈x
Hi Baba. My advice would be to stick with what you know and take a regular Pregnacare and an extra Vitamin D tablet. As soon as you are booked in with your midwife, you will get advice. Good luck! Diane
Hi, I take a regular prenatal vitamin plus calcium with D because my calcium is always running low. Be sure to take calcium and iron separate because they cancel each other out.
Then I take a separate prenatal DHA. I also take EPA (omega 3) but separate from DHA because new evidence shows they don't work if taken together.
If I can't take my prenatal vitamin because of nausea I'll still take a folic acid. So at least I have that. They're small and don't upset my stomach. Good luck!
I started before transfer and never stopped. The high quality supplements won't have mercury so they should be fine. I haven't seen any studies that indicate they're bad in first trimester. One study said EPA and DHA can safeguard against preterm labor. If you're worried, maybe don't take it everyday. A couple times a week is fine.
You need to take folic acid around 3 months before falling pregnant - some trying to conceive vitamins like seven seas contain the recommended amount. Once pregnancy is confirmed, you can finish your trying to conceive ones then move to the pregnancy ones. I am taking the seven seas one and I supplement with omega 3 and extra vitamin D3. Good luck.
I took a pre-pregnancy multivitamin when I started my IVF and then when I had my scan to confirm the heartbeat etc I started pregnacare. When I went for my 20 week scan my iron levels were better than before I was pregnant.
I took Pregnacare, Vitamin D and Omega 3 fish oil. I initially took the algae DHA, but our local shop ran out and never got stock back, so started taking the omega 3 fish oil. I can’t recall when I started the omega 3, but it was before 12 weeks. The midwife never mentioned they were not ok at booking appointment, but our booking appointment was late due to waiting list I think, as it did not happen until I was 11 weeks.
I do like fish though (born and raised in Norway 😉) so I have a few fish meals a month anyway, I would not say weekly, I would like to, but OH don’t like it as much 😂😇
Probably making it more complicated but I take fertility bud. My GP said that folic acid unless naturally occurring folate can have issues with women trying to conceive so I went for these expensive tablets. So far so good… I made so many changes this time I don’t know what worked but this was one.
I took naturelo prenatal, foliate, omega 3 and vitamin D before pregnancy and during pregnancy and there wasno problems with my baby. My lining said its fine. Now pregnant again and doing exactly same thing.
Hey I took pregnacare max since I got a bfp I am 9 weeks something now and my baby seems to be growing fine. I did have a twin pregnancy and it didn’t survive sadly but I don’t blame the drugs at all. Nurse, midwife and consultant said they were fine. Hope this helps.
