Timing of Supplements

Hello,

Just wondering how everyone spreads their supplements throughout the day or if you take them all at once?

I’m currently taking (daily)

* 1 squoosh of BetterYou DLux 3000 Vitamin D

* 1000mg Omega 3 (providing 450mg of EPA/DHA)

* 400mg Folic Acid

* 200mg Ubiquinol

* 1000mg Pure Açai

My dresser looks like a pharmacy and my husband thinks I’m actually nuts!!

Anyone think I need to up any doses? Add anything else 🙈🤦🏻‍♀️

Thanks x

I used to take about 20 pills a day morning lunch and evening

Did it for 3 mths I did conceive tho was it the supplements or just was going to happen anyway?

It’s crazy, it becomes a full time job having to take them all 🙈

Congrats on your pregnancy. X

in reply toSJGPW

Lol I was dedicated and was positive it would work, unfortunately we mc again was my 3rd in a row I’ve had another 2 chemical since then ☹️. I’ve just started dhea again we’ll see.

Good luck to you hope they help.

Aw, I’m so sorry 😢 fingers crossed this time.

I’ve read about DHEA but it’s difficult to get in the UK. Maybe try that later down the line. X

Haha at the minute I’m taking about 20 pills a day for fertility, health issues and a dental infection what’s decided to turn up that Dosent include pain meds your medication looks minimal to me it’s easier to spread them out I find though between morning and night

SJGPW in reply toAfrohair

I think mine are quite minimal at the moment compared to some 🙈 we are quite new to it all. We were only just about to start IVF for the first time when we went into lockdown, so trying to take this time to super prepare my body.

Aww just do what’s best for you I find sometimes I can’t take them all at once and sometimes I have to take food first or I will feel sick yesterday I realised I had nothing but paracetamol for breakfast and I probably take two of something by accident as I can’t keep proper track I really should do something about that.it can feel a bit too much sometimes but they all have a purpose.so I try spread mine out through the day x

SJGPW in reply toAfrohair

Yeah I’m spreading them a little throughout the day... it’s only week one taking them so I’m sure once I’m in a routine it will be a little less daunting. X

Yes you will get used to it if you really want you could set a alarm on your phone infact I should do that lol if you have an I phone you can set alarms for different things you can put alarm 1 and the name of the medication set for one time and then alarm 2 for the next lot etc ..

I take mine all at night xx

For some reason, never crossed my mind to take them at night? Do you take them all in one sweep at a night? Xx

I take mine all at night too. My doc said just be sure to take them at the same time daily so I do it before bed. Like you my bedside table looks like a mess of pills constantly! 😂

Yeh I have always done. Just makes it easier not to forget to take them. I think if I took some in the morning and some in the evening I would forget which ones I had taken 😂 not very organised at all!

My OH has told me I really need to get my sh1t together now we’re expecting twins 🤣

I think he’s probably right!!

SJGPW profile image
SJGPW in reply toHope4040

Oh man... it’s always been my dream to have twins ❤️ keep saying that maybe that’s the “positive” of having IVF.

We are just waiting for lockdown to be lifted and the clinic to be able to do face to face again. Xx

Get them to implant 2 if you can. Are you going through the NHS? Xx

Do you know when you will be starting your cycle? Xx

Although looking at your list if your taking dhea or ubiquinol I would take those in the morning as they can keep you awake! X

How are you reacting to these supplements, I have about 7 per day I think but I think they are giving me migraines. It’s really hard to tell though 🤔 I spread mine across the day. Maybe three at a time is the maximum I want to take. I will look properly late and update.

SJGPW profile image
SJGPW in reply toChegotsi

Ah that’s interesting. I’m a long time sufferer of migraines. I was in propanalol 3 times daily for years to combat them, but the Dr took me off them when we started ttc as it’s unclear if they are safe. That being said, I had to ring my dr last week as the migraines were getting gradually worse and the sumatriptans I’m prescribed for onset were not getting rid of them! I can’t blame that on the supplements though, as I hadn’t stated them at the time 🙈 not much help (sorry!) x

Thank you for responding, good luck with everything! Praying 2020 is your baby year! 😁❤️

Thank you.. you too ❤️

I take 9 tablets in total, DHEA x 3, Melatonin x 1, Pregnacare x1, Royal Jelly x 1, hay fever pill (!) x 1, Ubiquinol x 2.. and I take them all in one go at breakfast otherwise I would forget them!! Good luck x

This looks good! Is your folic acid in folate form?

SJGPW profile image
SJGPW in reply toWinnieM

Hiya, it’s not at the moment. I’ve been taken folic the whole time ttc so still had some left. Folate seems quite difficult to get in the uk it seems, but think I have managed to find some online. Just waiting til these run out 😊 xx

I found that taking some of my supplements close to bedtime made me not sleep very well. I now try and space them out and not take them all at the same time. I thought that I was on loads but looking at the comments, I think I might need to have a look at what supplements I am missing out on :).

I take pregnacare, vit d and evening primrose oil (but I also have been taking antibiotics for the last 3 months twice a day - so it feels like I am always popping a pill lol).

Hi there, I just wanted to ask if you've found yourself bloated after taking omega 3? For 2 weeks I've been on zita wests DHA and has made me really bloated (well I think its that) I've started to take them with my evening meal instead, seems to be helping. It's really annoying. I'm prone to bloating when I start the meds so I might have to stop them if it carrie's on xx

I was taking 10 pills and was taking all of them with breakfast

I was on DHEA (self prescribed) but my hair started falling out, I had terrible insomnia and my periods went mental so I have taken myself off it again - just a warning! xx

Oh dear Daisy, sorry to hear you had a crap reaction....I havent heard anyone having such bad side effect you poor thing! Hope you're feeling more like yourself now!xx

in reply to

Im sorry Daisy you had that reaction. Im self prescribed as well and my hair was falling out anyway so dont know yet if it is more now. Did you stay on 75mg ? Im on 25 now for maybe two weeks and was thinking to only up it when it was time for a fresh cycle? X x

in reply to

Hey, I was on 75 then reduced to 25, then came off it for a few weeks and slept much better etc so went back on at 25 and immediately had the terrible insomnia again so have given up. I am gutted as I have read such good things about the impact on egg quality and I kept thinking I could put up with the side effects but when AF came 6 days early and with the hair and lack of sleep well I just couldnt put myself through it xx

in reply to

I hope you feel better soon Daisy. I cant find the article anymore but it was hinting that 6- 12 mg was optimal for women. Mine comes in capsules so cant really split them. Its good u have a break because it also mentioned you shouldnt be on it too long x
