Hello! There are some prenatal vitamin brands out there that contain methyl folate rather than folic acid like Naturelo. It's worth taking folic acid anyway as only folic acid has been proven in studies to reduce the risk of neural tube defects. I also have that gene mutation where it's recommended to take methyl folate rather than folic acid but the body will get rid of any surplus and I am currently taking both in preparation for my FET. Wishing you a smooth and happy pregnancy, congratulations on your positive! xx
Thank you so much for taking time to respond. I have some gene problems and my doctor said I am only allowed to take methylfolate and not folic acid. That's why I am worried to take folic acid.
This is my fourth icsi and I am glade it finally worked out.I am really worried about what to take. I still did not take any until now.
I moved to methyl folate after my GP told me that some women’s bodies reject folic acid and it can react in ways unknown. She told me to move completely from pregnacare and replace it entirely with something with methylfolaye in. I used fertility bud. It was fine for me - I can’t know if this made a difference I changed so many things (after one mc and one medicated FET not working and finally I moved to a naturally modified FET on the last try that worked) - I changed so much but fact is I’d have to do it all again the same if I did again!
Hi, I’m taking wild nutrition - food grown pregnancy. I’m in first trimester and also took their pre- pregnancy supplements. They’re a bit pricey, but very well reviewed (and have the folate rather than folic acid - which I understand is also better absorbed by the body than folic acid)
