My wife is 6 weeks pregnant and she has had some (sorry to mention) brown blood after she went to the bathroom on the tissue. Is it normal to have some blood during early pregnancy?
We are new to all of this and I know we are both worried, my wife has tender breasts still and she has mild pain below.
Any help would be great.

Brown blood is very common in early pregnancy. Its from the embryo getting comfy and burying into the womb wall, and often where the womb is stretching out getting ready for baby to grow. Try not to panic. Congrats
Thank you, I think when you see any blood during a pregnancy it’s instant worry.. we understand it’s very early days but we have a scan tomorrow so fingers crossed all is well
Hi. This could be the reult of pessaries irritating the cervix, if she has been prescribed them. Could also be a sign of infection, so if it becomes smelly she needs to speak to GP. Her scan should be due soon, so hopefully that will reasure her. Get her to drink plenty of water too. The cervix is very rich in blood vessels that can easily get irritaed. Hope it soon settles down. Diane
I hope everything goes well at your scan! I had brown spotting for 5 days with a bit of red at 5 weeks and 7 weeks. Clinic put it down to implantation with the first and irritation with the 2nd spotting. Its so scary but doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong. I'm currently 17 weeks. X
