Hi guys so found out both my ovaries are polysistic and I have 3 small fibroids......... I'm due for my dummy embryo transfer in a couple weeks so this is the last step before the meds taking Commences........now that my cycle is about to start I am experiencing lower abdominal pain because I'm ovulating.....but have never had this before so I'm thinking is it psychological now because I'm more aware .....I don't know....... I'm just praying this dummy embryo transfer goes well and the 3 small fibroids do not affect our chances.
Has anyone had fibroids whilst doing ivf ? And if so did it affect your treatment? Pls advise

I have one, possibly two, fibroids (the second was just identified yesterday, and the ultrasound tech wasn’t entirely sure if it’s actually a fibroid). The one we’ve known about since before I began IVF treatment. When I had surgery in 2018 to remove endometriosis, the surgeon chose not to remove the fibroid because it protrudes outward toward my abdominal cavity rather than into my uterine cavity. Removing it could’ve caused a weak spot in the uterine wall, so he felt it safer to just leave it alone. I would recommend asking your doctor if yours protrude into the uterus as this can interfere with implantation. My IVF treatment was not altered in any way due to the fibroid. They just regularly made a note of its size and location in my charts. However, I am currently 12 weeks pregnant, and elevated hormones are causing the fibroid to grow. It’s away from the baby and not currently causing any issues. The nurse midwife at my OB office said fibroids cause a very small risk of early labor, so they will continue to monitor. Best of luck on your journey!!!
Thank you so much for your reply, I'm having a dummy embryo transfer nxt month along with a 3d saline to see the actual position of the fibroids as the ultra sound did not give a clear picture. I'm abit worried as I don't want it to prolong things any longer so fingers crossed.
Congratulations on your pregnancy also u have given me positive hope xx good luck to you also xx
Hi Shishi. Just wanted to wish you well with the dummy run, which is good to have, especially when there are issues with fibroids and polyps. Gives the specialist a good view of "where to go". Thinking of you. Diane
Hi, I have always had fibroids and actually had some massive ones removed about 10 years ago but they have grown back. My largest is about 6cm at the moment but I have been allowed to progress with IVF over the past 5 years because of its location. You will find fibroids grow in 3 different places and if they are growing into the cavity it can be an issue, but if they are in the wall and poking into the cavity or in the wall and external you should be fine as I was always told any pregnancy would just push them out the way! Good luck x
