Hi, has anyone any experience with intramural fibroids and IVF? I've had 2 failed embryo transfers, 1 fresh and 1 frozen. Egg quality is good. The reason we are doing ivf is because I've had my tubes removed due to hydrosalpinx. I had a fibroid spotted on a scan about 2 years ago and now I'm wondering could this be causing implantation to fail. Any experience would be appreciated.
Hope everyone doing ok ❤️

I think it depends on size and location. I've had one for years, but it didn't affect implantation or successful pregnancy, my gynae specifically told me before we started treatment that it wouldn't cause any problems. If you're going to try again it's obviously worth asking about, but I don't think they would have gone ahead previously if it had been in a position to affect things xxx
Hi, thanks for the reply. That's reassuring to hear! But I'll definitely ask about it at review appointment. 👍
I have a huge one, and several small ones, but as they don't go into the cavity too much they don't think they make much difference. I know there are 3 different types of fibroids and only one is likely to cause TTC issues, but all need to be kept an eye on as can grow when pregnant and limit space in the womb. Worth asking about but I agree with MissSaoPaulo I would have hoped that they would have raised it before if it was an issue x
I have an intramural fibroid that had to be dealt with prior to starting the treatment because it was affecting the cavity. I’m sure they wouldn’t go ahead with the treatment if they saw that it was interfering. Worth checking but I’m sure that’s the case
I also had an intramural fibroid within the uterine cavity that had to be removed prior to IVF. I still have other fibroids with one that is just outside the uterus but the consensus from doctors is that it should not affect my IVF chances.
I have friends that gave birth successfully with Fibroids. It is worth exploring if it could be a factor in your case but IVF success rates are not that great anyway it may not even be that. 😕
