In a flap!

Hi Everyone.

Apologies for this post, I’m just in a bit of a flap. Back in July I was told I’d need to go through IVF. Tests done, it’s all on me, diminished ovarian reserve, FSH on the hi side and AMH on the low side @ 4.1. I’m just about to turn 40. So now I’m just sat waiting for the first appointment (painful).

In the meantime we’ve continued to “try” (as we have been since the start of the year). I’ve had pretty regular cycles since I recovered from a missed miscarriage a year ago (took me 10 weeks to get my period back). Around 27-28 days.

Today I was doing some shopping and felt a little wet downstairs. I went to the toilet and saw some discharge in my pants, wiped and it was pink. I’ve continued with this pink discharge all day. I’m on day 17 of my cycle. So now I’m utterly panicked that this is a period, very early, and I’m perimenopausal 😔

I have so many questions whirling in my brain I don’t know what to do with myself. Would menopause set in this quickly? If I am now perimenopausal would they still let me do IVF? Have I got an infection? Can my period go from being pretty damn regular to 2 weeks just like that?! What’s going on with my body?!

Sorry, I just needed somewhere to off load these thoughts 🙁

Hi there. Not sure how helpful I can be but I have had on and off unusual bleeding over the past few months. Like you I have diminished ovarian reserve and was terrified of being in early menopause. I waited a couple of months to see if anything would change but kept getting early bleeding prior to period, sometimes light bleeding in the middle of the cycle and twice I had spotting instead of a period...I was so freaked out! Hopefully this is a one off for you but in my case because it happened several times I got LH and FSH tested at my clinic and they have said I am not in menopause. I did not ask them for my test results as I suspect the numbers may not have been what I would wish but I did feel reassured on the menopause front. Maybe this is an option if the bleeding continues in other cycles, to get bloods done. I asked my clinic if I was to be in perimenopause could I still be treated and they said I could.

The other thing is that sometimes our bodies just do unusual things, maybe you have ovulated late and what you are experiencing is ovulation bleeding.

Hope this helps x

It really does. Thank you for taking the time to reply. I read about ovulation bleeding and I’ve never had it before 🤷🏼‍♀️ so not sure why I’d get it now. All the blood tests I’ve had done were less than 3 months ago, but if it continues maybe I’ll ask for more done x

That has happened to me and after blood tests and a scan, it ended up being a cyst. They sent me on the pill for one month to get rid of the cyst

Hi there! Thank you for your reply. I had a scan a couple of month back that didn’t show any cysts, but I guess things can change! I keep it in mind, thank you! X
