short period then day 5 bleeding on frozen transfer cycle

I’m literally tearing my hair out with my cycles since doing my IVF egg retrieval back in July!

I had a withdrawal bleed that was normal 5 days after retrieval. Second cycle was longer than normal and only bled for 2 days at the start of the third cycle which was when I started a medicated transfer with Progynova but started bleeding on day 9 thus transfer got cancelled as lining only 3.2mm. The bleeding was unexplained and that cycle went on to 26 days (normal for me) and then again a light period of 2 days.

Current cycle I’m supposed to be doing an unmedicated transfer. I went in for a scan on day 2, day 1 was full flow but I didnt properly bleed again after the morning of day 2. Now day 5 I’ve got light bleeding that’s like fresh blood.

Ive got a second tracking scan on Wednesday but I know my transfer is likely going to be cancelled again if I’m bleeding now my lining isn’t likely to be thickening.

Has anyone else had this issue? My lining was always good mid cycle on any scans I’ve had prior to IVF and periods were typically 3 days of full flow.

I have experienced similar recently.

Started spotting on Medicated cycle Day 9 and when I went for scan they could see it was coming from the lining. I cancelled the cycle.

Little different from you as I haven't had a period since so due to be scanned again next week to get an idea of where things are at.

But just to say I understand the utter frustration. I hope the scan brings you some answers on Wednesday. X

Hi Oopsieloopsy, my cycle completely changed after my egg retrieval and my clinic put me on noresthisterone to induce a bleed instead of waiting for my non-existent period. I took 3 tablets for 7 days and got my period 3 days later. I started 3 progynova tablets on day 1 and lining was fine when checked at scan. Maybe worth looking in to? Hope your cycle isn’t cancelled. Thinking of you. 🤍

I have had bleeds though, 4 now albeit short as well as confiemed ovulation so I don’t think that will make much a difference unfortunately but thank you x

I am using DE but have had similar. 1st transfer was medicated and 2nd natural (both BFN). Then 3rd transfer I chose medicated but it got cancelled as I bled 3 days before. Never had a breakthrough bleed before starting IVF. 3rd and 4th transfer have been medicated no issues. Still BFN X

I’m experiencing something similar, had freeze all 13 months ago then started with attempting transfers since Feb. So far had 5 cycles cancelled due to lining issues and some fluid in my uterus (have had previous surgery to rectify this but seems to be back) I usually try natural cycles as I don’t seem to react well to medicated but this cycle I’ve agreed to try medicated patches and vaginally taken estrogen as there is a question over if my gut is not absorbing them orally. I have a day 10 scan today but already know in my stomach it’s going to be another cancelled cycle because I’m cramping so much it can’t be a good sign. Sorry I can’t offer any advice but sending you all the love in the world. I’ve been on this IVF torture for 5 years almost consistently now with a very lucky success who is almost 3 and sleeping safely in his bed but can honestly say knowing you have embryos ready to go but being unable to get your lining right is the worse part of any of it I have experienced. Be kind to yourself xxxx
