First IVF: Missed miscarriage confirmed

So it is confirmed, I just had a scan. We are waiting for the nurse to call me to talk about my “options”, I know my options very well from my other miscarriage 2 years ago and I know this time I will have surgery and have the tissue analysed. I can’t go through this a third time and before my next transfer I have to know.

I don’t feel much sadness now but I know it will come. They told me my ovary have many big follicles and I wonder who knows I might ovulate and get pregnant just like that soon!

How long do I have to wait before transfer? You might find me so insensitive for thinking about that while technically still pregnant, but we need it so much.

Hi FrancyItaly. Oh dear, I'm so sorry to hear this and hope you've got plenty of support just now. usually you need to have a cycle that is normal for you, then they can go again, the cycle after that. You're talking 2-3 months. If not already tried, then speak to them about using a blood thinner e.g. low dose soluble aspirin and/or heparin to ensure good even bloodflow to your womb lining and hopefully prevent any clot formation. Worth asking if not tried before. Thinking of you. Diane

Thank you Diane, I will do that when I get pregnant absolutely! Hopefully it will happen for me again. Do you think it make sense to have the tissue examined at this stage?

Hi. Personal choice, but no harm in doing it, if it eases your mind. Diane

My doctor encouraged my to test during my first miscarriage. Unfortunately it was inconclusive but I don't see why it wouldn't be worthwhile to you now. I took misoprostol and collected it myself but I am in Canada not sure if this is allowed everywhere.

Sorry for your loss. Yes it is, I did the same. Did you take it to the hospital after a long time?

I'm so very sorry that you are going through this heartache can't help with advice on next transfer, but when we lost our daughter at 20 weeks pregnant I wanted to try as soon as we could -the first doctor said 6 months but leading consultant said after the period after birthing we felt massive relief. So no I don't think you are being insensitive I think a lot couples that lose a baby even late on want to try as soon as possible. I found the trying again part of our healing and grieving process. Good for you. I wish you the very best & hope you become pregnant again soon Xx

My heart breaks for you, Francesca. I can completely understand wanting to try again straight away. My understanding is that you can try again after a cycle. I wanted to get going again as soon as possible too. xxx

So so sorry that you are going through this and the length of time it has taken too. If they will do the tissue test I don’t see the harm in it as it may give you some answers. I hope you have lots of support around you lovely 😢 sending you a massive hug 🤗💜 xx

So sorry FrancyItaly it’s the saddest news. I too had a missed miscarriage with my first IVF transfer, it’s such devastating news when you think your miracle has happened. Everyone deals with the pain differently, some need a break and time to heal and others need to make their next plan about what to do next. Don’t feel guilty at all either way sending you a huge hug xx
