Scan after miscarriage

I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks, this happened last Wednesday. Clinic have booked me in for a scan in two weeks time to check if everything is looking ok. Is this normal procedure after a failed pregnancy?

Financially, this IVF journey is beginning to take a toll on me. I just don't want to be going for tests that aren't necessary.

Have your HCG levels fallen? I had to have scans because I still had HCG in my blood and was still spotting.

HCG fell to less than 1.

Hi moonmatrix, I'm sorry about your miscarriage. This happened to me I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks and the clinic made me continue meds for nearly 2 weeks until they could scan me. For me it was clear I had a miscarriage but they wanted to scan me themselves to make sure nothing was still in the uterus. X

I had an HCG blood test same day as the scan and the result came back negative meaning no pregnancy hormone was detected. I started bleeding very heavily later that day.

Can’t you go to the epu for a check and it’s free?

What RhinoCat said - you definitely need a check but you can get it from the Early Pregnancy Unit at your local hospital
