So I went for my scan to check my lining today, it was 8.6mm so all good there. But the woman who scanned me said I had a cyst on each ovary, I knew I had a small one on the left last time (this hadn’t been there prior) she then asked me do I have endometriosis as it looks like I may have. I have asked about this before but been told I don’t have signs of it on scans and that’s it. I think there were a couple more small cysts they randomly found too. I have told them before about my painful periods, but how do you know how painful they are when you’re only used to your own?!
I just wondered if this happened to anyone else and did you have success? Or did you need to have some treatment for endometriosis before you had any success? I know the only way to officially diagnose it is laparoscopy. If this next FET doesn’t work obviously I will be asking more questions in regards to this.
Thanks

Hi Booda. Oh dear that is a nuisance. They may need to drain the cysts before doing another transfer. Speak to them about the possibility of having endometriosis too, just in case that needs to be treated as well. Hope all is soon sorted if you need anything done prior to transfer. Good luck! Diane
They just told me it won’t change anything on the protocol this time and as the transfer is so close (Thursday) I think I might as well just hope for the best! Fingers crossed. If it doesn’t work I will definitely insist on more investigations x
Hi lovely, I can't comment re endo, but I've had a cyst on my ovary leading up to FET before. The clinic took a blood sample to check whether it was producing hormones. Unfortunately for me it was, so it would interfere with the meds and I had to stop prep and take norethisterone for 10 days to clear it out. I was able to restart prep when I bled after stopping that. If it's not producing hormones though they often leave them be. Best of luck xx
Yes they told me nothing will change with the protocol and my transfer is on Thursday so it feels too close to be messing around. Will just see how it goes this time and hope for the best! Thanks for taking the time to reply xx
Hi this happened to me during my first ivf cycle , at down reg scan a large cyst was discovered, I was referred for a laparoscopy because of the size 10cm, I was then diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis. I only ever had light / short periods with pain on the first few days so never would have known.
Following that surgery , I went back to start another ivf cycle but they discovered another endo cyst had reappeared although smaller this time , so they decided to continue with treatment. That cycle failed but only due to embryo not surviving the thaw
Fast forward to now I am currently 28 weeks pregnant following second ivf attempt , my cyst was still present during the treatment & didn’t seem to affect the outcome & I have not had any issues this far regarding the endometriosis & pregnancy. So it can happen .
The main issue with endo cysts is during the egg collection which can be tricky to retrieve eggs from & sometimes ovaries not responding.
Oh congratulations! I’m still going to go ahead with transfer this month, I’m too close to wait. But if it doesn’t work I will definitely insist on more investigations. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy xx
