Should I ask for more?

My fresh transfer wasn’t able to go ahead and my first frozen transfer ended in miscarriage. I’m on Progynova now in prep for second FET. Should I ask to take more progesterone this time round? They mentioned everything will be the same this time (we are unexplained infertility and nothing flagged up regarding egg quality or AMH, sperm factors etc) but I read a comment on another thread about changing something each time. Any advice greatly appreciated

If they have you on estrogen replacement (progynova), I’m not sure why they wouldn’t recommend progesterone replacement as well, since it is no longer a natural cycle.

I don’t know your exact circumstances, or why they have recommended what they have, but I would definitely ask about progesterone to at least hear their response. It is possible to have too much progesterone in your system, which is why doctors don’t prescribe it (or prescribe a much lower dose) in a natural cycle.

Ideally, I think it would be best to get your progesterone levels checked. Progesterone is extremely important and necessary for implantation and to support a pregnancy (but of course, your clinic knows this). Definitely speak to them about it.

Remember to advocate strongly for yourself. It’s your body and your embryo. Best of luck! 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Thank you so much. I didn’t really explain the progesterone very well in my original post. I will start injecting lubion on Friday (all being well at my scan) with the transfer scheduled for the following Friday. I thought it was best to ask you guys before my appointment so I am a bit more knowledgable and prepared for a conversation about it xx

Does your clinic do a blood test the day before transfer to check your progesterone levels? I also have unexplained fertility and when they checked my levels they were borderline low. I still got my BFP in our first round but it ended in missed miscarriage. 2nd time round, they started me on a higher dose of progesterone earlier, rather than waiting until transfer day. My progesterone levels (when checked the day before transfer) were much better! X

Ask to have your progesterone levels checked on transfer day to see how they look so if needed your dose can then be increased. I needed extra progesterone on top of the normal protocol as I dont absorb meds very well. You want them to be over 60nmol/l. They may not want to check them as a lot of places often say it's not necessary but for some of us it can be a weak link so even offer yo pay for it for peace of mind.xx
