So we’ve just completed our 4th cycle and 5th transfer, had a BFP, went for a viability scan yesterday only to be told there was a sac but no embryo and to stop all meds and prepare for a miscarriage. As we were with a private clinic we were referred back to the NHS and the early pregnancy unit. We were hoping to have a D&C and resolve this sooner with management as previously we have waited for a natural miscarriage and was long and painful, however following a scan the NHS said it is too early to rule out miscarriage so they won’t do anything until I have another scan in 10 days time?! By which time once I’ve stopped all meds I’ll have a miscarriage anyway?! Is this normal ?
I should be 8 weeks today and sac only measures 5 weeks and clearly there is nothing growing yet they won’t do anything! Feel so down anyway and now this, just can’t cope with all this

I can't offer any advice but I just wanted to say how sorry I am. That's so sad and I really feel for you. This is such a brutal process 😔
I hope the NHS don't make you wait for too long. It will be horrible for you to be stuck in limbo like that. Take care and stay strong, we're all here for you 💗 xxxx
I’m sorry to hear this. I know how hard this is, I had exactly the same scenario earlier this year. I waited the 10 days but my body didn’t have a natural miscarriage in that time and so I had management anyway. It may work out how you want it. I know, the wait is super frustrating and feels illogical when you ‘know’ yourself that there’s nothing there. However the NHS staff were great and they will offer further counselling support if you want it.
Thank you for your reply and so sorry you too had to go through this! Hopefully it will all work itself out, thank you for sharing your experience with me. xx
I’m so sorry to hear this. I’ve just been through the exact same. It’s standard practice to check a week to 10 days later, as there are situations where it’s not always bad news. Unfortunately what will probably happen is that once you stop your meds, you’ll start to miscarry in a few days. Mine happened within a couple of days, and for a few days it was horrendous; really painful and heavy. But, the worst only lasted a couple of days. Then it was spotting and some bleeding for a few more weeks. I’ve finally stopped now after 3.5weeks, but mentally I’m sure it’ll take a bit longer to get over. I’m here if you need to talk to someone who’s recently been through what you’re going through. Best of luck for the future. xxx
I'm sorry. I waited 2 Weeks for mine to happen. Finally I got the pills and within 2 hours everything happen. I think because my body was ready too misscary the process was fast and not even that painful. All just fallen out of me. And my body recovered very quickly.
I'm guessing hospital wants to do it slowly to ensure there is little impact on your body. Hope my thoughts make sense to you x
Thank you for your reply! Yes it does make sense I guess I just wasn’t prepared to wait longer and to be stuck in limbo…but hopefully it will all resolve quickly! xxx
I'm so sorry to read this, it's not an easy journey. Like the other ladies I waited the extra days and had the D+C at 10 weeks. Like you, there's no way I was waiting for a miscarriage and be stuck in limbo. I took a fair bit off time of work after, I wasn't prepared for it mentally and physically. I think if I had to do it again, I'd be ok, but I was a bit naive and thought I'd be fine having surgery, so my advice is to use this time to be good to yourself and take time off. I read it's not common for it to happen again. Hope you are ok xx
So sorry to hear this. I had a very similar situation in may. Scan at 6 weeks showed empty sac, they kept re scanning till nearly 8 weeks to be sure, I had stopped all meds but nothing happened so ended with a D&C. It’s a horrible time so please mind yourself. The waiting in between scans is the worst. Sending you love x
