Hi everyone, I collected 3 eggs today at EC and all were mature. Am very pleased and relieved as had a stressful week with it all but pleased I didn’t end up cancelling the collection. Just have to hope we’ve got something fertilised tomorrow morning 🤞🏼 I wanted advice on 3 day transfer please. In our last EC in May we also got 3 but only 1 fertilised. We transferred that at day 3 without success. We are trying to decide this time if we get 1 fertilised again if to transfer on day 3, or wait and see if it makes it to day 5 blast. Our clinic is recommending to do the day 3, as think it’s better in it’s natural environment but I feel it’s risky as it might to be an embryo that would be a blast as at day 3 it’s too soon to tell really. But then if we wait til day 5 we may have nothing to transfer. What do you think we should do? And are there any success stories with day 3 transfers please? Thanks!
Also still trying to decide if to use embryo glue or not, for some of the past transfers we have, and some we haven’t. So do you think it helps increase chances? I know it’s Amber but just want to really give this our best shot x

hooray for 3 eggs! Congrats!
I am a big believer in day 3 transfers, I’ve seen a lot of bfps from them, and I agree with your clinic the embryos are best off where they would be naturally
IVF only used to do day three transfers for decades, it is as only new technology more recently allowed the monitoring to blasto…. And there is only really value in that if you have a lot of embryos and want to pick the best
Will you put more than one back? That’s an option too
Thank you! This totally logically makes sense, it’s such a tough call, really am on the fence with it. I think we will know more once we know how many have fertilised. We are definitely doing a double transfer if we have that number fertilised but I think realistically we may get the one only to transfer but yes that’s our plan for all future transfers if our yield allows us to 😊
So pleased to see that you got the 3 eggs and they are all mature. It's great that you are now reassured you made the right choice to continue rather than cancel.
It's quite a tough decision between Day 3 and Day 5 transfers and clinics do seem to differ somewhat in their advice, perhaps that is dependent on circumstances.
For me I have got between 2 and 6 eggs on my egg collections and regardless of the number fertilised my clinics have always pushed any resulting embryos to Day 5 blastocyst. Their logic has been that any embryos returned to the body on Day 3 which result in pregnancy would also make it to Day 5 in the lab and also result in pregnancy. They argue that more is known about the quality of the embryo by going to Day 5 in the lab simply by the fact the embryo made it to blastocyst in the first place.
I personally have mixed feelings about it, as someone who does not have a lot of embryos. I guess you need to balance the risk of having nothing to transfer with knowing more about your embryo quality before transfer xx
Thats where I’m on the fence I totally get this, like why transfer a day 3 if it wouldn’t make it to a day 5, if it makes it to day 5 then amazing and if it doesn’t then it wouldn’t make it past day 3 inside me in any case? X
we didn't use it for our fresh transfer and got a bfp but early loss, used glue for both frozen and both resulted in bfps. all the best for whatever you decide ❤️❤️
Hey PrincessGurn i was told by my clinic for day2 (as in that cycle only 1 got fertilized) better to transfer and have it in its natural environment as to i believe it definitely has huge impact inside the uterus but in the lab no matter how good and advance it is but this is what i beleive. So i would just say go by your instinct and the sceince behind this. All the best.
The glue was used in my previous cycle as there transfer protocol for all patients in the package which made no difference at all.
our clinic go for day 3 if they can choose which one is the ‘front runner’ at the point so if only 1 still going they would transfer day 3 to give it the best chance in natural environment. If you still have a few on the go you may want to wait until day 5 to see which one to transfer xx
hi, mine were also 3 day transfer, in which they transferred 3 fertilized egg in which one got stuck and currently i am 29 weeks preg, so 3 day transfer can also be good
I’ve got pregnant twice from a day 3 transfer (one sadly an early mmc and then our now 2 year old son) and it was a no brainer for me as there weren’t any other embryos to choose from and I felt clear that wanted to give them a chance being put back into a more natural environment. I have heard people say that they wanted to leave til day 5 as didn’t feel could emotionally handle the 2ww if the embryo wasn’t going to develop anyway/ unlikely to work. Good luck and hope you come to the right decision for you xx
Wow congratulations love this story, sorry to hear about your Mmc. Yes I guess to have no regrets it’s good to put it back in and give them a chance! X
