40 is there really no chance of getting pregnant
I would say first of all, there is definitely a chance, IVF is so hard both physically and mentally. I would say think about the questions you have. Why was the transfer difficult, are there any other tests that can be done in light of the negative result to rule out any other issues? If you have done your free round perhaps ask for recommendations for private clinics your area ( you could post here, people would need to pm you as you aren’t allowed to advertise on public posts).
I hope appointment goes well and you get some answers and also a plan going forward.
Xxx
Hi
It’s like anything like this, a bit of a lottery!
I’m a week away from being 42.
We have had 3 private rounds, two using my own eggs and the last being a known donor.
Out of our two rounds we had 5 top quality blasts. One ended in MC, 2 failed to implant and 2 were chromosomally abnormal.
We were told by the consultant we could do another round with my eggs and ‘might get lucky’ hence why we went for donor.
I don’t know your circumstances so just assuming here, if your partner/husband hasn’t had a dna fragmentation test done oh their sample I would highly recommend this thus, they always look at the woman as if it’s all down to us!! If your other half has high fragmentation then that’s would need looking at and sorting out.
Don’t ask the NHS dr for recommendations, one made a recommendation to us unprompted, I looked at the clinic and the results were awful, I’m sure if I’d done further digging he either had shares or it was a relatives practice!
You are better off doing your own research on clinics and asking on here.
For you there are lots of tests you can do, it maybe if you’ve had transfers done they were put back outside your optimum window, consideration for ERA/Emma and Alice.
Immunology tests, check your thyroid is at the right level, think it needs to be under 2.
Unfortunately us older ladies have a slim chance with our eggs, about 5% so you need to be in it for the long haul if you are determined to use your own.
Saying that there is no dead cert using a donor, although I’m 20 weeks from the first transfer
Good luck
Both my friends had successfull ivfs at 39 and 40 from the 1st attempt. As for me i'm on the 2WW of my 3rd cycle and hoping for the best. All we know is that we never give up on our dreams and i wish you all the best in your journey! 🤞❤
Of course there’s hope. A good friend got pregnant at 41 and had her little boy at 42… keep hoping and believing x
