Yes am at that overthinking stage. Tomorrow I have a feeling we will be faced with a decision whether to go with a 3 day or 5 day transfer.
The embryologist feels best for us to go with 3 day transfer all being well. She warned us of risks that some or all may not make it to day 5.
We feel with our history it’s best to go with 3 day transfer as had 2 x BFPs from double fresh 3 day transfers.
Also had a 3 day FET resulting in a BFN and had a 5 day FET also a BFN.
I have read the implantation chances of a 5 day blastocyst much higher than a 3 day embryo..... so it’s so hard....
Of course it may also mean my body just responds better with fresh transfers and not so well with frozen. Also could mean I can only get pregnant with double transfers.
Obviously we will take the expert advise we are given tomorrow.
My gut is saying we stick to what we know and go for ‘double fresh 3 day transfer’
Done this so many times and gets harder each time.....
Any advise ? appreciated x

Arghhhh it’s so hard isn’t it, so many choices to make and not knowing what is right! I was told 5day best chance of implantation for me as it’s further on and if it doesn’t make it to 5days then it may not have made it when transferred in at 3 further down the line. I was thinking I wanted to go 3days as had read the best place for it to develop is in its natural environment, but went with the advice of embryologist in the end as what do I know and google is full of conflicting advice and percentages!! I think the embryologist will be advising you on what’s best for you, based on you, your age, your protocol, your embies etc and it’s natural to overthink it all and wonder what if what if what if! It’s Russian roulette and we just need to look after ourselves the best we can and hopefully we are in good hands and the advice we are each given is right for us!! I’m currently freaking out as took an HCG shot post transfer, no pessaries and have since read pessaries better. Too much access to information isn’t always a good thing 😕Hope you have a clear head tomorrow and go with whatever you feel you want to!! Good luck!! 🍀 💕
Thanks, totally agree we have far too much access to lots & lots of conflicting info. This will be my 5th transfer plus one failed cycle that never made it to transfer. Everytime I swear that’s it no more googling the hell out of everything 24/7 but I always do 😂😂😂😂
What will be will be, just hoping to god this is our final attempt x
My clinic always says unless you have enough embryos that you can afford to lose a couple you should definitely go for a 3 day transfer. At least they are back in their natural environment and actually until recently 3 day transfers were the norm!
There is so much obsession with getting to blasto etc the two cycles I haven’t got to five days I’ve been so negative and felt like a real failure, it’s not helped by my only bfp so far came from a 5day (sadly MC).
However the more I read the more day 3 sounds almost better?
I don’t think I have helped but masses of luck from a fellow 40 something xx
Last year we had to decide between doing a double 3 day or a single 5 day. I went for a double 3 day and sadly ended in MC at 8 weeks. However I was told reason was down to gestational sac growing and nothing to do with the double implantation.
Got feeling will be facing similar decision tomorrow.
Am so sorry you have not had a successful pregnancy yet. Have you ever tried a double transfer ? My clinic recommend for over 39 and chances of multiple at our age very slim. I went for it at 39 and my miracle son is now 3. Last year didn’t work out but am hoping in the words of the Stone Roses which I am listening to right now ‘This Is The One’ 🤞🏼
We have done two triple transfers 🤦🏼♀️🙈 triple 5 day was a bfp but we lost it at 9 weeks. Today is OTD for a triple 3 day transfer and I’ve been bleeding heavily for 6 days so knew it hadn’t worked. Masses of luck for this round x
Wow triple ! My clinic only offer double for 3 day embryos & never for 5 day as they say chances of multiple much higher. So sorry you lost it, I know how heartbreaking it is. Omg didn’t realise it was ure OTD today. Have you done an actual test? I bled a lot when I got my BFP last year.
Thanks for the good luck & same to yourself.... it’s such a long lonely road we all deserve medals x
Yes all tested and been bfn for last four days - had a few days of squinter a around 8dpt but they stopped when the bleeding started. We really do deserve medals! I hate the pressure of age as well. I don’t regret waiting to start my family but it does annoy me it’s now the main cause of the pressure! Lots of luck again xx
Oh no that must’ve been awful seeing a possible double line then nothing. Am too scared to test early. Only did it once even then was a day or 2 early.
I know what you mean about age. In my case I was 39 and had been trying for couple years. My lap showed blocked tubes. My only regret is not freezing my eggs when I was younger. It’s not something you are made aware of or even think about. If I have a daughter I will ensure she is aware.
Going forward have you thought about going for a double? I have always been led to believe sometimes too many embryos implanted at once can work against each other. That’s only thing I can think of but you & your consultant will know best.
My understanding is that if you have a few embryos and they’re all looking good, leaving them until day 5 will enable the best looking one to be selected. This is the only reason stats are sometimes better for day 5. If there are only one or two it is better to put them back at day 3 where they are meant to be. You just have less info about how well they’re developing because nobody can see what they’re doing when they’re back inside! Good luck with whatever you decide. We were advised by our embryologist so didn’t really get the choice xxx
Thanks, that makes a lot of sense. Last year they gave us the choice of a double 3 -day transfer or a single 5- day .... depending on if they made it to 5 days. As we only had 3 viable embryos at that stage we went for a 3 day. Hurry up Monday 🤞🏼
Hi hun, I don't know if this helps but just wanted to share that my NHS clinic changed their protocol last year (they said in line with the latest evidence and research) and they now do 5 day transfers only . We had 7 embroys on day 3 but only one developed further and survived till day 5. They can't say why this was the case but the one that survived..is now 14 weeks healthy looking baby inside of me.
