Really worried 5 weeks pregnant

Hello

I had a positive beta test last week and my viability scan is scheduled for mid next week. I did IVF (5 day frozen transfer)

However the only symptoms I have had are AF cramping nothing else whatsoever.

I did a urine pregnancy test this Monday and it came back negative. I rang my clinic on Monday and they asked why I did a urine test when the beta test was positive. The nurse advised me to hold out till my next scan next week. I explained I have no common pregnancy symptoms and she said everyone is different.

I am having my usual period pains for the past 2 weeks now and today they are like sharp stabbing pains, I wiped down there earlier and had light blood on the tissue which has really shocked me. I’m so scared. I have rang my clinic but they are busy and will get someone to call me back. I just want to know what’s going on and what can they do etc.

Any advice or experience would be appreciated

Thanks in advance

I am light spotting for a week but my beta test came back as pregnant. The nurse told me it could be due to the embryo embedding or if your taking utrogestan vaginally that could be touching a blood cell causing light bleeding. Apparently alot of women have spotting. That's want I have been told. Try not to worry stay postive (I'm doing the same). Your scan is coming up so hopefully that will put your mind at rest. Best of luck

Thank you for your reply , it’s such a hard journey and today I have the worst period cramps and I have a feeling that I know my body has let me down as I know these cramps are exactly like when my period comes. It’s so hard to remain positive. Not sure what the clinic can advise me either. I know scan is the only thing to confirm if this is a viable pregnancy or not.

Hi Simz. Too early to worry about symptoms. You could speak to your GP in case you might have or are developing a urine infection. Just have a rest when you can, drink plenty of water and keep up with any medication you have been prescribed. Diane

So sorry ..it's such a nerve racking time... What was your beta number? Sometimes when it's very high pregnancy test come up negative (Hook effect)Re period cramps I had them ahead of my miscarriage at 5 weeks but also for the past 2 weeks and my viability scan was fine last Friday

Do you have endometriosis?

Hi no I don’t have endo. This is our second cycle our fresh one failed in July this year. My beta test was 186 I have no idea what is high or low but was told by clinic it’s a good number. I have bad pains right now and fresh red blood when wiping down there now. So so so scared. I spoke to the clinic earlier and they have advised there is nothing I can do till

I have my scan next week and told me not to do anymore home Pregnancy tests as they will Just add more worry. They also added most women do get bleeding in pregnancy it’s just one of those things they don’t know why. I’m really trying to stay hopeful till I have my scan.

Oh it miss be so scary...I'm sorry. I guess the viability scan will tell you what's happening.Surprised by the lack of empathy from your clinic. They should have offered another beta. X

So sorry to hear you stressed, if I were you I would book myself a Beta HCG blood test, I think it’s not fair to ask you wait till scan. Second HCG would tell you if there is something worrying. Good luck dear xx

I have woken up this morning with heavy bleeding and period pains. I think it’s all over. My clinic (private ) advised that doing another blood test will not be accurate as the hcg stays in your blood stream so may not reassure at all. They advised a scan next week is the only way to confirm all. They said to attend an early pregnancy unit I rang the early preg unit and they said they only seeing women who are 8 weeks or more. As I am

I am so sorry! A&E can still send you to EPU. I had to go to A&E first with OHSS too and was transferred from there to EPU. You just cannot go to EPU directly.

I went to a&e yesterday and epu said they can’t scan me as I’m only 5 weeks and said to come back next week. It was a waste of time waiting. I am having bleeding still
