Surgery day!

No point to this post really but I think this group will understand why I won't shut up about finally getting to this day whereas my friends and family must be rolling their eyes now.

We have male factor sub fertility, low count and morphology. My husband was diagnosed with a varicocele back in October 2019 his surgery was scheduled for Feb 2020 it was cancelled then all surgery's delayed due to covid. I'm trying to keep my hopes at bay, but it is one more element we can try to hopefully get a better footing in this crap journey haha.

For those of you with experience in this surgery anything we can do to help recovery? I have two icepacks ready in the freezer haha.

I hope anyone waiting for surgery or treatment finds out soon! And good luck to all of you currently in the dreaded tww.

Hey, good luck to your husband with the surgery! Hope it all goes well! My partner also has a varicocele and will be having a sperm analysis done tomorrow just to see where we’re at. He was diagnosed via ultrasound but was told it shouldn’t affect his fertility so I’m hoping that is the case as I’m also going to be having surgery tomorrow for endometriosis. Are you hoping that the surgery will improve or restore his fertility? My partner is thinking about getting the surgery done just because it causes him pain sometimes. Xxx

Hey! That's good news that it shouldn't affect his fertility. My husband was diagnosed by feel and looking it is quite a high grade they didn't need the ultra sound. I am hoping it will improve his results as he is currently boarderlining low so hopefully go higher. Not expecting miracles but would be so grateful if it improved to the 'average' bracket and see if it helps with naturally trying whilst saving for private ivf if our NHS round doesn't work. Urologist seems very hopeful it will help sperm parameters but our ivf doctor isn't, so will just have to see what happens! In my mind it's hopefully a step moving forward. Yea like you said even without the fertility element his urologist said it would need taking out for health reasons as its already impacting the ball. Good luck with your surgery tomorrow hope it goes well! X
