Quick question about menopur

I start my injections tomorrow morning, I know once they are mixed up they don’t need to be kept in the fridge, but do you usually mix from the fridge and do the injection a little while after. Or would you prep the solution tonight ready for the morning? It might not matter at all and I’m probably overthinking.

Thanks x

Hello. I did it straight from the fridge though since then I have pre mixed the next vial early as it felt like a lot to mix it all up and then worry about jabbing myself for the first time. I haven’t drawn it up early but I have mixed it. Best of luck, it’s not as bad as I thought it would be and I’m on day 9 and my follicles are growing x

You can do it! Over before you know it. I rushed a bit cause I was so keen to have it over and done with but it take it slow and you’ll surprise yourself x

That’s really kind thank you. I’ve read so much on here and videos and things but everything is still so new. I’m sure after it’s done tomorrow I’ll wonder what I was worrying about xx

The first one is the hardest but don’t freak yourself out. It doesn’t hurt that bad at all. x

The datasheet for the medication says it needs to be used immediately after it’s been mixed so you should only mix it when you are about to inject yourself. Hope this helps x

Hello Steph m. I think it depends on what “mixing” means. Do you mean drawing up the syringe?

You have to pre mix the vial depending on your dosage - my clinic gave me a 1200iu vial when I was only injecting 225 a day (and now 75). So I had to mix that and leave at room temperature. My clinic fact sheet and the menopur fact sheet in the box says it stays good at room temperature once mixed for 28 days.

“After reconstitution, the solution may be stored for a maximum

of 28 days at not more than 25 degrees”

Thanks Lizzie yes that’s what I meant just mixing the solution not drawing up. The video on Care website says good for 28 days too, also my menopur is in 1200’s and I am taking 450 so same as you I will have to leave at room temp x

It depends on what size you are using. If you are using smaller vials, needs using immediately. I didn’t realise you were using that size so you’re good to go. My mistake x

No worries steph, I should have been more specific. Thank you x

I mixed mine up a little bit before and let it settle, so it wasn’t as cold and make sure all the air bubbles were out. Hope this helps. X

Hey, I followed the instructions to the tee and did it straight from the fridge, after that I just left it in a cool dry cupboard in the kitchen and drew up from it every night. The first round I had individuals I had to mix every day at the specific dosage, but the second round was easier doing the one mix every few days! Good luck with your round ❤️ Xx

Thank you. I’ve just done the first one is was absolutely fine my hands were a bit shaky but all good. Note to self have a bit of tissue for the drop of blood after. Relieved it all went fine and my dose is mixed up for tomorrow. Definitely easier with the bigger vials xx

I was on menopur 1200 both cycles. First cycle l mixed and used straight after which was too much for me. I had never injected myself, the smell of medication and thought of going through it was a reality - I cried.

Spoke to the clinic and the nurse said l could mix it a day before or hrs before use since once mixed will be stored at room temp for 28days. I found second round a lot easier when l did that.

Totally get this. I’m usually calm about things but I was nervous more to get it right than the injection itself and I think that’s because of the mixing. All good now although I bruise like a peach so that’ll be next 🤣 xx

I mixed it few hours before as I found I was very nervous just before injections. Also held ice cubes over the spot for about 5 mins before I injected and I thought it helped. Could have been in my head 😂
