Advice please

Hi

I just wanted to ask if you have high thyroid peroxidase antibodies it usually means that you might have high nk cells. For those people that take a combination of thyroxine, blood thinners, eg clexane, aspirin and corticosteroids eg prednisolone were you put on these meds by your ivf clinic to stabilise your thyroid antibodies or were you put on these meds because you had nk cells checked along with other immune tests. It's all so confusing. I just wanted some clarification. Sorry for the long post. Thank you

Hi.

Not sure about the NK cells unfortunately. Have you been tested?

I have high thyroglobulin antibodies but not TPO and take levothyroxine. My consultant is not recommending steroids for now. I will be on aspirin/clexane but that is more due to my history of DVT/PE. I asked about steroids but I think the advice from the HFEA is to avoid unless there is a medical reason. I have an Endocrinology appointment in a few weeks and will ask their opinion.

Hopefully, someone else will come along with some more info x

Hi thanks for replying.I see so you would take steroids for high thyroid antibodies then.

I've had my consultant appointment for the nk cell test. No one is prescribing steroids at the moment. So not even sure if there's any point in getting the test done now.

Hi. I think some clinics will prescribe steroids but depends on your individual situation. I am sure there are ladies on here who have taken steroids during the pandemic. Hopefully they can advise more x

Hi weekitty. As your thyroid produces the hormone thyroxine, it is good to get it checked out just as all the other hormones. Low dose soluble aspirin and clexane is often prescribed for repeated miscarriages and the treatment of NK cells. All these medications are best prescribed when needed. Diane
