Following an unsuccessful NHS funded cycle we're now going private. Our NHS hospital called ther other day and booked me in for a laraposcopy as they believe I might have mild endometriosis due to not being able to accessy left ovary. My private doctor on the other hand had advised to not have the procedure due to my low AMH. Has anyone else had conflicting advice? Also has anyone's AMH gone lower after having a laraposcopy?

Hello,
Laparoscopy can lower egg reserve. I had laparoscopy in 2018 as I was overstimulated and a massive cyst grew on my ovary, she operated on it found very mild endo. Fast forward two years I have 2 new endo cyst and they are still there today ... with the amount of treatment it is just impossible to control, you would have to have laparoscopy every year... I say if it’s not severe, causes pain etc I would not touch it. I had chemical castration to calm my hormones down before my FET ( decapeptyl 3ml for two months before my transfer). Good luck with your treatment, always get a second opinion x all the best
Surely your NHS hospital would have performed a laraposcopy already before commencing treatment with them?!
I know ours did when they first investigated, not that we qualified for any IVF and had to go private.
If that’s the case you shouldn’t need another one
Hi, the reason your private doctor does not want you to have the laparoscopy procedure is because if they find endometriosis there is a high chance that you will have cysts on your ovaries. The preferred method to remove the cysts are to cut or burn them out but the problem is that to ensure they remove all of the cyst they also remove some healthy follicles. So if you already have low AMH then u cannot afford to lose those healthy follicles.
I have heard this before. I had a Laparoscopy and then after got my AMH checked. It’s 8.5 which is average but not as high as it should be for my age. I wish I had it tested before too. But was never told it could possibly affect my AMH.
I had a laparoscopy last year as I wanted to know if I had endometriosis or not and the doctor found mild endo. I swear it was the worst decision of my life as I think the endo is worse now. This procedure is very invasive and can do so many wrong things instead of right. If you don’t really need it don’t get it.
