Sorry for all the posts - you can tell I’m anxious about this 2WW!
But one other question I’m keen to ask and hear your experiences on is whether anyone with low AMH has had a second blood test and seen it increase?
It’s something my fertility acupuncturist suggested we might want to do given my low AMH is the reason we didn’t get NHS funding. If this has increased there is a chance we would qualify?
let me know (positive or not!)
Thanks

Most recently mine was 9.1 but the year before it was high 5s, so it did increase. The NHS went on the higher figure for my treatment protocol, I had already qualified though. Always worth retesting and asking them x
I’ve just read your first ever post and we couldn’t have been more similar results wise (my partner has low morphology too). It’s mad as we’d originally qualified for one NHS round - it’s such a frustrating post code lottery!!
I’m not sure if you’d qualify for a go as you’ve now already paid for a private round, but definitely worth looking into and getting retested. Xx
What were your levels? I was told the limit was 5.6 pmol to qualify for NHS funding and mine came back at 5, so didn’t qualify. They decided to test two months later just to see if it changes and it came back at 7, so they used this result so I could have NHS funding.
A year later after two rounds of IVF I had to have the AMH test again as they need the AMH level to be within a year of treatment, and it came back at 4.4 or something like that. Prior to our third cycle, we managed to conceive naturally by some miracle. So don’t give up hope! X
the test results can vary and mine did go up 3 years later but they said that’s due to the testing getting more sophisticated and readings can vary slightly as it’s an indication of your reserves at a given time rather than amh actually increasing as you have what you have left and you can’t put more eggs in as its what you are born with … this was a nurse though not the consultant so not sure how true it is but it made sense to me at the time. I would say if you were close to the nhs cut off there is no harm retesting as it might just be enough to get you the funding xx
Yes mine increased each time I was tested! Although my results were always quite low, we’re talking single figures for all 3 tests, so the scope for deviation is smaller I suppose. Second test was about 3 months after the first & probably different due to different laboratory etc. Third was two years later and higher again, I believe again they said they were using a more sophisticated lab & testing etc
Hi there. I had mine done back at start of journey and was 6.1 pmol/l. Then had it done earlier this year and was similarish at 5.5. It suddenly plummeted in summer before last IVF cycle to 2s. Then had it repeated now (this has been a forced break since last BFN early August as we look for new clinic and do some further RIF tests) and it’s up to 7.42. So it really can vary a lot and go up again after a worrying drop xx
