UPDATE - Sensitive: large yolk sac, fetus small but has heartbeat

I’m 6+6 today following FET. I had my viability scan today and although there is a heartbeat, the fetus is measuring small at 4mm (6 days). Also the yolk sac is dilated at 5mm. Consultant not happy with this and has painted a very bleak picture. Has anyone else had similar but gone on to have successful pregnancy? I have a scan in ten days... it’s going to be long wait.

Thanks for all of your support.

**************** update *************

Just to let you know that I had follow up scan this morning and unfortunately pregnancy has ended. Fetus stopped growing probably last week and no heartbeat.

We have 3 embryos from icsi left in freezer; 2 are 2BB and one is 2BC. Consultant suggested putting 2 back next time. Do you think I have a chance with these embryos and anything I should do in between that might make a difference? Any advice on what I should do next (a plan will help me recover).

I am having ERPC on Thursday and they are sending tissue for genetics.

Thank you ladies,

Didn't want to read and not acknowledge your post. Sorry to hear this. I had similar and it didn't progress. I know that isn't what you want to hear. I would say expect the worse and anything else is a bonus. Will have everything crossed for you xxx

I think sometimes the updates don't show so clearly so sometimes it's best to post a new post :)One thing I would say is don't get too hung up on the embryo quality - if your embryologist felt they were good enough to freeze then they are good enough to make a baby. xx

Hello ,

Sorry to read your update. It is truly heartbreaking experience and something I worry about everyday myself :(

I think I would just wait for the results from the tissue, you might have some answers from that. If there were chromosomal abnormalities there is nothing you can do, just try again with your frozen embryos but if the embryo was healthy you could do some further investigations x I wish you quick recovery and a lot of strength in this difficult time x

Sorry to hear about your loss, it’s heartbreaking I’ve been there myself!

I wouldn’t worry about grading of embryos - they are graded in matter of opinion - it only takes 1 and as other have said if your clinics frozen them they obviously think they are good enough.

If there is an option to put two back, if it were me that’s what I would do

Thank you. I spoke with embryologist and actually I had wrong info regarding the grading of embryos. She said they are better than what I thought.

Just going to take a break over the summer and aim for next transfer in September.

I’ll be 38 then and will have been trying for 7.5 years. Feeling quite down and negative like it’s never going to happen.

We’ve been trying for 6 yrs, and had three rounds

We have taken a methodical approach, done research, questioned avenues or statements the hospital has said! We have been very careful not to let our hearts rule our heads, otherwise you can get carried away financially and end up owing a small fortune.

We have set out clear goals and decided on routes/timelines prior to starting a cycle.

Hence why when our first round failed we said our second round we will have our embryos PGTA tested.

When they came back abnormal- despite how upsetting it was the clear route was donor egg, I was 40 yrs of age and needed to be realistic

We’ve done this donor route with my sister as the donor, and we are heading in the right direction.
