Has anyone had duo stimulation in IVF? A London consultant at a fertility clinic has recommended it but there isn’t a lot of info out there and I would love to know people’s experiences and successes please.
From reading it is two egg collection in one menstrual cycle....
TIA

Hi! I had dual stim, icsi, performed this year. First round - 11 oocytes, 8 mature, 8 fertilised, one made it to blastocyst. Round 2 started about 8 days after the egg retrieval, right when about 4 follicles became visible. After 12 days of stimulation I got 8 oocytes retrieved, 5 mature, 4 fertilised, 2 made it to blastocyts. Basically although the quantity was less, it seems that the oocytes were of better quality... Getting ready to FET in late May most probably. Baby dust to you!
There’s a really good duo stim group on Facebook that has a lot of useful info and personal experiences. I didn’t try duo stim in the end, but it was brought up by my consultant so I was reading up on it
i did have it done but i got better quality eggs from my first collection versus my second - i am older, so maybe that might have made a difference (eggs are more at risk of over ripening in older women and being of worse quality, so maybe the eggs from the 2nd collection had been sitting around for too long..)
Thanks, I am soon to be 43 with an AMH of 10, it is very costly but I was wondering if this was worth doing 🤷🏽♀️ I have had 4 x OE ivf on long protocols and haven’t had any successful, but three early losses.
have you tried any pre-treatments for your eggs before collection? i used micronized DHEA for 3 months before my successful cycle at 43 years of age, and Coq10 is something else that is recommended as a pre-treatment. We also retrieved my eggs slightly early due to the phenomenon i mentioned of older eggs becoming over ripe. I can send you studies if you want to talk to your doc about it?
the studies' aims were to assess the improvement in live birth - this is a gold standard endpoint in fertility clinical trials because it is so hard to show an improvement, due to things like miscarriages and patients leaving the study once they become pregnant.. (but im sure your doc knows that)
Thank you for replying. So relieved! I actually managed to later see the link you added about the study. Let’s hope I still have one good egg in me... 😅
