Hi, did anyone tried duo/double stimu protocol?
I’m a poor responder and eggs grow unevenly, doctor recommend duo-stimu which is quite expensive, I’m wondering anyone experienced this protocol and what’s the results compared to normal cycle? I’m thinking if this protocol is more expensive then why not choose 2 cycles? Thanks!

hi I am sorry you’re also struggling with this. I was recommended it by one dr due to poor response but another more experienced dr then looked at my folliculogram (scan on trigger day) of my past IVF cycles and saw I don’t have many small follicles waiting to be recruited at that point, so he felt we would be wasting our money and putting me through a lot (two egg collections in small space of time) for little gain. So we didn’t go ahead. We’ve spoken to a few specialists at different clinics since then and most don’t think duo stim is that good.
I think it’s worth asking if your scans definitely show you may benefit and maybe getting second opinion. Another factor to bear in mind is whether if you only get one blast and it isn’t good to freeze you might want to do fresh transfer, but with duo stim you can’t as you have to start the second stim. Hi, thank you so much for your help, I have similar situation, I have 8-10 follicles, I tried standard stimu but didn’t work as the eggs grow very slow and only 2 grow after 8 days of stimulation, the rest didn’t grow, so that cycle was cancelled and switched to down regulation protocol, finally got 12 follicles, and retrieved 7 eggs (from 10mm-19mm various sizes) again the rest didn’t grow, so I’m just worried that the first part of duo stimu may not work well without down reg like my first protocol, and second part the rest may not grow🤦♀️, plus the price is nearly doubled compared to normal price, so just feel a bit risky…
It’s so tricky. I spent ages stressing about it. I had about 5 follicles at right size for collection each time but only 3 or so small ones that would be caught in the second stim so would really be waste of money I think for us.
I hope you can find some good info on your cycles and advice and come to the decision that feels right x
I’m interested in this . My AMH is low at 6 prob even lower as this was from last year . But I do have upwards of 15 follicles mostly on scans . I got 9 mature eggs on my first collection with 3 blasts but only one good quality … no success yet with two transfers . I get no guidance from my clinic so I know exactly how you feel . It’s an absolute minefield x
