Diet mid ivf stimulation

Hi I've day 5 on injections and am usually very strict diet wise but I am craving crisps, chocolate and pizza!

It says on Google not to eat any of this stuff during treatment.

Just wanted to know is it actually ok to have a treat or to avoid ?

I can’t say I was super strict and definitely allowed myself a treat or two and even a takeaway. Just try to be as healthy as you can so for me I had pretty much daily homemade berry smoothies, jacket potato/soups/salads for lunch and dinners with a lot of protein. I think I mainly did pay attention to my protein. I have had one IVF cycle, pregnant on second transfer from that cycle and going well so far.

I think the stress of trying to stay super strict with your diet is probably worse for you than treating yourself to a pizza or some chocolate if you're really craving some 😊 your body is going through so much, give it what it wants 😂 as long as you're eating well most of the time I don't see the harm in it.

I've done one round of stims and don't remember being particularly strict with my food, I got 19 eggs and 7 blasts. Good luck xxx

Did you ask your doctor or your clinic? I had a number of retrievals and transfers in 2 clinics- neither clinic ever made a comment about diet before or during retrieval. Only the basic about alcohol. I guess it's good to avoid unhealthy stuff but do not stress over it. If it was going to be harmful to the outcome at this stage the clinics and doctors would be the first to warn you

I can’t imagine it changing your outcomes at this point. The main advice is lots of water, fibre and protein. Pizza’s actually a reasonable source of protein. I’m very into health and fitness and ate whatever I wanted to during stims and I got 22 eggs collected.

the diet is more about the months leading up to the egg collection to produce healthy eggs (although it’s never made one bit of difference to me what I eat or don’t eat!) rather than when you are halfway through stimming the eggs so defo treat yourself it’s a tough thing to be doing and your mental health and enjoyment of life is just as important as your physical health to get through IVF. Caffeine and alcohol are the only things with any proof to affect the outcome really at this stage from what Ive read, the odd pizza and crisps won’t do any harm! I enjoyed some chocolate cheesecake during my most recent stims as a wee treat and put some strawberries on top to make it ‘healthier’ 😝🤭 xx

You’re definitely not alone in those cravings—especially during treatment when everything can feel a bit more intense. I think it’s okay to indulge once in a while! While it’s important to stick to a healthy diet overall, having a treat here and there won’t derail your progress.

Sometimes, giving in to a craving can actually help you feel better emotionally, and that’s just as important during this time. So, if a little chocolate or pizza brings you some comfort, go for it! Good luck! x

I don't think a few treats will make a difference. The eggs you will produce have been getting ready for past 3 months.I was very strict, purely salad, veg protein ect and still produced rubbish quality eggs
