Hi all, any advice would be much appreciated. I am on my 5th day of stims on maximum dose of menopur due to low AMH. I keep getting a weird flutter in what I’m guessing is my right ovary but the frequency and intensity is increasing. I never had this at all with my first cycle so just wondering if anyone else has experienced this please?

Ovary flutters on Menopur
Heya. I’m not sure it was quite flutters, but I remember everything feeling ‘busy’ if that makes sense. Not quite sure how else to describe it. As it turned out they said I was at risk of OHSS so we did a freeze all cycle - worth mentioning it to your nurse in case they want to do extra bloods or something like that? Fingers crossed and all the best luck 🤞 x
Hi Sades,
After being on Menopur for about 1-2 weeks (normal dose) my ovaries, usually just one actually, felt very full and I sometimes got a weird "popping" feeling which was a little painful and scary. Just like McQueeny I ended up having a freeze all because I was at risk of OHSS. It will be picked up in your blood test if your ovaries have gone nuts so don't worry.
Hi Memo, thanks for your reply. That’s reassuring to know you were experiencing similar sensations and also mainly in just one ovary too. I think it’s likely this freeze all may happen to me then but at least I will be somewhat prepared for it now. Much appreciated. Wishing you all the best x
Hi Sades. I’m on day 4 of menopur and start with centrotide tomorrow (first round of IVF). I’ve been having pretty strong flutters in what feels like my right ovary for most of this afternoon. Your post has reassured me (if only to know I’m probably not imagining it) so thank you!! I have quite high AMH (around 42) and I have been advised overstimulation is quite a real risk for me so will just keep an eye on things and let the nurses know if it gets a bit ridiculous/painful...my only other symptom so far is a bit of bloating but then again it’s only day 4...
Did the nurses ever comment on what the flutters were?
Hope your journey is going ok xx
Hi, ah congrats on starting your first round that’s a big step. Looking back I realise how little I knew on my first round but found this forum for my second which really helped I continued to get the flutters on and off most days whilst I was on the stims it’s such a weird feeling isn’t it! My clinic just glazed over it to be honest didn’t give it a second thought so I assumed it was no big deal. When you go for your tracking scan they may bring your egg collection forward that’s all (that happened with my first round but I didn’t have any flutters then so who knows)
On a positive I didn’t get any horrible symptoms throughout the rest of the process so I hope things continue to go smoothly for you too.
Best of luck xx
Ah thank you! Weirdest feeling ever!
I have my first tracking scan this Wednesday (slightly concerned day 10 could be a little later than ideal but maybe that’s the NHS for you and guess we have to trust the process and hope!). Flutters have stopped and no other real symptoms other than the bloating but it’s not major and I feel fine so can’t complain!! 😬 xx
