Hi, i have been prescribed Letrozole to induce ovulation. I have been TTC for three years with PCOS. I was given norethisterone to start a period as i hadn't had one in over 6 months and then given 5mg of Letrozole to take on days 3-7. Currently on CD 12 and taken my first lot of Letrozole as planned. I just wondered if anyone had any success with it? Im not doing IVF or IUI I was told that they were pretty confident that the letrozole would help as my hormone levels seemed quite positive after loosing some weight (still abnormal but improved). Just not sure what to expect. I have seen some posts and people have been being monitored by their clinic. I have just been given a total of four months worth of tablets and the consultant said that he would arrange to have a follow up in four months. If i haven't managed to get pregnant by then, they would look at IVF. I am hoping it works as my partner already has a little girl from a previous relationship so we would have to pay. Any advice or information would be appreciated.

I was also on Letrozole for 6 months because of male factor infertility. I am ovulating on my own and my periods are regular. I was monitored first month (ultrasound) and they also checked my progesterone levels to make sure I definitely ovulated. They wanted to monitor me on second month as well but I had 2 weeks holiday booked abroad so I cancelled my monitoring. Unfortunately we didn't manage to get pregnant but I wouldn't discourage you to try ovulation induction. If this didn't work for me it may work for you. My suggestion is to try to have at least one ultrasound scan because not everyone is responding to this medications and you don't want to lose 4 precious months trying. I wish you good luck 🤞♥️🤗

Thank you for your reply. I may contact the clinic and ask them about it. I dont ovulate. This is the 2nd time i have ttc but with a previous partner, who again had no fertility issues. My periods can be anywhere from two weeks apart to 18months. I just thought that they would at least do bloods to check or scans to help try and determine if ovulation happens. I just feel like i have been given this treatment and just been left to get on with it. I wasnt really sure what to expect as i haven't done this before. No explanation of what to look out for etc. Ive done my own research on it and have seen that there are mixed responses to Letrozole. I am sorry it didn't work for you, i wish you luck too 🥰 xx

I missed to mention a very important aspect, when I was on Letrozole it was first time when I couldn't monitor my ovulating on OPK. Hope you will not have this issue 🤞

Thank you for your reply. I will have a look and see what i can learn haha. So i can at least ask my clinic more questions. I feel that i should of asked more at the time but because this is something that i haven't gone through before, i didnt really know what to ask. It was only after reading some posts that i felt that i should at least be having some form of contact with them, not just it being a case of, heres some Letrozole see you in four months if you aren't pregnant by then. Thank you for your help. X

Hello, I have used Letrozole, the story of mine is a little bit different. I have unexplained infertility at the age of 38. I was prescribed clomid for my IUI procedure which was unsuccessful. After the failed IVF transfer, I saw a consultant in Ukraine. She suggested that I take Letrozole for 3 cycles. After the 1st cycle I got pregnant but failed.. I started my 2nd cycle after the 2 months break. Luckily, I got pregnant again. Now I am 15 weeks pregnant. I know it took a long time, but did work in my case. Fingers crossed for you dear and my prayers are with you.👍☺️

Hi, I took letrozole for ovulation induction as I wasn’t ovulating or it was happening very rarely due to PCOS. I had got pregnant on my first cycle but unfortunately miscarried however my fourth round was a success and I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant.I was given progesterone to start my period and took Letrozole days 3-7 and went for scans from around day 9 so check my lining and follicle sizes. I would definitely push for the follicle tracking as they can let you know if you have any dominant follicles which are likely to have an egg inside and it’s gives you an idea as to when ovulation may occur. Otherwise it’s all a bit of a guessing game. Hope that’s helpful and I wish you all the luck ❤️ Xxx
