On 5th round of clomid out of 6, just had an internal ultrasound and I have a cyst. Anyone tried letrozole?

Hi,

New to this group.

We have been trying for over 2 years. Over this last year had various tests etc. Yesterday I had an ultrasound and they informed me I have a cyst on my left ovary (had the same test done 6 years ago but this wasn’t mentioned). Been trying clomid for the last 5 months and so far it hasn’t worked. Only allowed one more cycle before we either get referred for ivf or the dr did suggest letrozole- has anyone had any luck with letrozole?

Many thanks

Nic

Hello

I'm sorry that the clomid hasn't been working for you, its really frustrating. When you say not working do you mean you haven't fallen pregnant or that you haven't ovulated? My fertility issue is PCOS causing me to not ovulate. I did 6 rounds of letrozole (never tried clomid) and never ovulated. So I completely get your frustration. I think letrozole has a better side efect profile than clomid and is meant to be better if you have PCOS.

As for the cyst, they tend to come and go so there is a god chance it wasn't there when you got your previous scan. If your doctor isn't worried about it, I don't think you should be too concerned.

Good luck making your decision!

Thank you for your message. I haven’t fallen pregnant. According to my bloods I have definitely ovulated 3 out of the 5 times (unsure if there others were maybe the just missed the correct day to test).

I haven’t had too many side effects on clomid (just hot flushes now and again).

I am sorry to hear letrozole didn’t work for you. Are you going down the ivf route now?

Yeah I’m currently on day 6 of stims in my first IVF round. My clinic put me on the IVF waiting list whilst I was still on letrozole. You could ask if that’s an option for you?? Xx

I’ve just started month 1 of letrozole after 3 months of clomid. I was given 6 months, however every month my lining kept getting thinner.... so I was swapped to letrozole & month one my lining it 7.6😊 x

Awesome news! Was it an ultrasound how they were checking your lining? X

Yes I’ve had folicule tracking this month, got my day 21 tomorrow as Monday the folicule had collapsed so looks like I ovulated. Once my day 21 confirms I have I thin start taking progesterone to keep my levels up & helps with lining too.

Clomid gave me a positive month 1 but turned to negative result a week later. Then every month my periods where getting lighter & lighter so In the end it wasent working for me. so fingers crossed letrozole does🤞🏻 xx
