I’m due to have my first natural frozen transfer mid March and I’m pretty sure I have an ovarian cyst. I have PCO and quite often get them, had a scan last month when my cycle was really long abs they said I had a collapsed follicle on the left likely to have ovulated and another follicle on the right still going (I think this was the cyst).
Had pain on and off all month when turning in bed abs twisting and things. Just wondering if this could effect me doing a natural cycle or if it has any relevance at all!
Thanks in advance 💋

Hello, I could’ve written this years ago! It depends a bit on the size of your cyst, and the type. The type depends on how how it looks, and your hormone levels (blood test will confirm). From my experience, if it’s not follicle-sized (13-30 mm) they might let you go ahead with a natural cycle. If it is indeed follicle-sized, they might insist on a stimulated cycle so they’re not dependent on visual assessment to determine ovulation. I’ve had cysts all throughout IVF. My second fresh cycle with my first ever transfer (fresh) gave us a gorgeous girl. Now trying my seventh and last attempt at FET for a sibling. Cysts are always there, sometimes one goes, a new one comes. That’s just my body and they haven’t let it deter them. Good luck!
Thank you lovely, they’re annoying aren’t they always hanging around haha! The most bizarre thing I called the clinic and the line was busy this morning to ask so planned to phone back. I thought I was due on 27th/28th so would have time to discuss.
A few minutes after I write this post AF arrived so have just called them just a bit concerned now I won’t have time for it to be a stimulated cycle!!
They’re going to call me back so fingers crossed all is okay!
Lovely you have your little girl 🥰 and all the best for this last cycle for you x
In theory your clinic could get you started on a stimulated cycle, I’d usually start Progynova on day 2 or 3 so you’ve got a couple of days. Have you heard from them in the meanwhile?
Hi Mai, I've just had a pain of a month with a cyst! I think if your cyst isn't producing hormones then you should be ok to go ahead as planned. If it is (like mine was) then it can throw your levels off and affect your FET so I had to wait for 2 weeks, take norethisterone then have a bleed. Thankfully it's now gone with my period and I can start meds today for a medicated FET. Good luck! xx
They are so frustrating aren’t they! I had one at the end of down reg so continues down regulating, then had to take the trigger injection which did nothing, then had the cyst aspirated for it just to refill and then had bloods confirming there was no hormone was able to start stimulating!
I think I’m just prone to cysts so I would like to think if there’s still one now it wouldn’t be producing hormone or anything fingers crossed! Aw good luck to you lovely! And thank you for advice x
Hiya! I dont have PCO but I do have a dermoid cyst on my left ovary (3 x 4cm) so it basically takes up the entire ovary. I don’t have any symptoms really at all from it, and only found out it was there when I started down the ivf road. I still somehow manage to ovulate from it and they managed to get a couple of follicles from that side too! The human body is amazing, I wouldn’t worry too much if I were you 🌈 wishing you lots of luck. Oh I meant to say - I’m half way through the 2ww of my first frozen cycle. First fresh one ended with a blighted ovum, so am hoping for the best with this one! 🤞
Just to update guys then cyst was gone and all on track for a natural transfer! Just waiting for my peak which I expect over the next few days, womb linings as it should be, I have a large follicle in line with my high readings on the ovulation tester so 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽
