ovarian cyst

Hi everyone.. been feeling really low for the past few weeks.. trying to keep positive and then have very low spell of sadness and anxiety.. had my baseline scan yesterday to start my IVF short protocol. They found a cyst about 3 cm big on my right ovary. They said it’s common may be due to hormonal imbalances (been feeling really stressed and anxious lately) and that it should resolve itself and ladies have it sometimes and hardly notice it. Because the size of mine they don’t think it’s anything to worry about but will monitor.

Because of this my IVF was cancelled this month. They said to call on day 1 next month and hopefully it should disappear by then. I had my endo scratch few weeks ago so it falls as close to my IVF cycle and now it feels like a waste of money.

Has this happened to anyone where you developed a cyst just before starting your IVF.. and did it resolve itself and how long did it take? I know everyone’s different but just want to prepare myself and set some sort of realistic expectation as my clinic keeps says it’s fine it should go by next month. X

Hiya, yeah I had this too. Got told it would be fine to carry on with the transfer or I could wait a month and it would go on its own. I waited and it went. All the best x

Hey lovely, sorry to hear you've been feeling low - it's a rough ride.

I had a cyst on my ovary at baseline scan - they did a blood test to see if it was producing hormones as this can upset your cycle - unfortunately it was so they cancelled my FET, put me on Norethisterone for 10 days and then when I had a bleed (3 days later) the cyst was gone.

Its so frustrating and disappointing but I would recommend waiting - you want your cycle to be as perfect as possible for your precious embryo.

Best of luck xx

Hi JB. Oh dear, unfortunately it can happen, so best to start your IVF cycle on day one of yr cycle to give the cyst less chance of growing. Try not to get down about it, they happen, should it be persistent then it will be drained. It won’t affect the outcome of your IVF if it settles or has to be drained. Diane
