I had a FET last Tuesday. I’ve never had my progesterone level checked. I’m taking 1 lubion injection and 3 200mg utrogestan pessaries. I’m worried that my levels are going to be too high?! Anyone else had this much?! This 2WW is a killer and Dr Google isn’t helping 😫
Too much progesterone?: I had a FET... - Fertility Network UK
Too much progesterone?
Try not to worry! On our last cycle which we were successful with, 28wks with twins....I was on 2 lubion per day and 3x400mg of cyclogest plus 1x200mg utrogestan so way more than you! Good luck.xx
Ah Cinders (my fave princess btw) thank you. That’s reassuring, which is what I needed xx
Hello, would you mind me being super nosey and asking why you were on 3 cyclogest and 2 lubion per day? Only if you're happy to disclose that info ofcourse 😊
Reason I ask is because I'm due my third FET this time with 2 embryos transferred (2x single embryo transfers didn't inplant).
My acupuncturist tells me my progesterone levels are low (not through a test just through symptoms and deficiencies) and when I query this with my fertility specialist she brushes it off although she hasn't tested me.
I had a telephone consultation this week and I asked her if I could increase the cyclogest or lubion and she said no but then agreed to up my dose to 2x lubion per day (previously I've had 2x cyclogest and 1x lubion).
However, I've read a few posts before where people have taken 3x cyclogest and 2x lubion so I was interested to know if there was a specific reason eg. Low progesterone levels, previous miscarriages etc.
All the best with you both btw x
I've got quite a long history but when I was under the NHS on crinone gel I always bled early before OTD, suspected low progesterone but got told not possible. I then went private and went onto cyclogest pessaries as they felt these were the best. I had many failures and then got a BFP and spontaneously lost it. I went onto have a chemical (which we didnt know at the time of bloods) but when I had my hCG checked we also checked progesterone and my levels were only 19nmol/l which is way too low. So next time before transfer we checked my levels and they were low so upped my meds. I started taking 2 cyclogest and 1 lubion ever 2nd day and got a bfn however my levels were better. I went onto have an ERA done and discovered I needed an extra 24hours of progesterone to catch my implantation window. So used that protocol and had along chat with the consultant about progesterone and how I still didnt feel it was high enough (I have a history of not absorbing meds well), I think he was willing to let me try anything this time and pushed up my progesterone meds and that's what we settled on and it worked. I do think the ERA was a huge part but also the higher meds helped me sustain pregnancy. In hindsight I think oil based progesterone injections would have been better instead of all the meds I was on as they are the most effective but hey ho. Ask me anything you want to if you think it would help. I would suggest checking your levels on transfer day next time.xxx
I was currently taking 3 cyclogest pessaries per day..(I had my progesterone levels checked the day before transfer and they were to low) they were only 29.2 nmo/l
I had my transfer last Tuesday, since Tuesday I added in 1 lubion injection as well as the pessaries. My clinic called today and said my progesterone levels have increased to 144 nmo/l. She said that was perfect
I've looked online and 144nmo/L converts to 45.2ng/ml, I've been on a lot of IVF groups on Facebook and many women had similar progesterone levels around the same time and had a successful pregnancy
Your taking the same amount as me, so I wouldn't imagine it would be to much
Good luck in your 2ww.. I'm nervous for test day (mines a week today)😬
Ah that’s comforting. Thank you. How do they test your progesterone levels? Mines a week today also! Luckily it’s half term (teacher) but it’s so hard in lockdown as there’s limited options to pass the time xx
They tested by a quick blood test (the results usually come back next day)Aw that's good atleast you can try and chill and take it easy while your off. I've been working from home so the days have been passing pretty quickly 😊
But definitely agree there's not much to do to pass the time. A nice meal out or anything would be lovely to take my mind off things
Let me know how you get off next week. Im hoping it's good news for us both 🤞🤞🥰x
Hi, no you’ll be absolutely fine! I take 4 x 400mg of Cyclogest a day and a Prontogest injection every other day. Defo don’t turn to Dr Google 😉. Fingers crossed for you x
I was 3x 400 cyclogest and progesterone on transfer day was over 150 which was the highest the clinic had ever had - I went on to have twins though and I’m sure having such high levels helped them both stick
My previous FET failed and my progesterone with taking 3x 200mg utrogestan was 22.I had a consultation after and I said I believed was too low they have now agreed this one of it is below 30 when checked we will add libion injection too. So I think your doing the right thing. My next transfer is the 24th feb.
Wish you the best of luck. 🤞🏼
I was on 2x lubion per day plus 4x utrogestan. My progesterone level was just under 1000 at one point. Currently 32 weeks pregnant with twins.
Hey hun, my clinic has always said to me that there’s no such thing as too much progesterone! I was on 2 injections a day (morning and eve) and 2 Crinone a day (morning and eve). Don’t worry it’s totally fine! Xxx
