How much progesterone is enough?

Hi, I'm 3dp5dt on my first FETand prescribed 2 x cyclogest a day. On my fresh round I started bleeding before OTD. I was on 3 x Utrogestan on my fresh cycle. I'm worried I bled early last time because of low progesterone levels so worried the same thong might happen again. People on here seem to be on a lot higher dose of progesterone than me! So is it normal to only be on 2 cyclogest a day? Thanks 😊

I'm currently taking 4 cyclogest and 1 lubion injection daily. I had my levels tested and mine were pretty low so they upped mine. I did start off on 3 cyclogest in my previous transfers and it wasn't enough x

With my first through to third transfer, I was taking 2x 400 cyclogest a day. With my fourth successful transfer, I’ve been taking 2x cyclogest a day + 1x 100 POI and my levels are much higher. I’ve had my levels monitored since day of transfer, every second day. They’re now monitored every week and I’m 7 weeks pregnant tomorrow. Could you ask for yours to be tested? Xx

They said they didn't test for levels as I had a good lining when they checked before the transfer. Maybe I'll push for them to test it. Good luck with your pregnancy! X

My previous clinic never tested either, but with my new clinic it’s standard and I felt better for it. It’s just a quick blood test so hopefully for your own peace of mind, they’ll do it xx

mine tested every two days after PPT and every few days leading up to the transfer. At my clinic, standard protocol is 2 crenone a day plus one projesterone shot every three days. They tested my blood and I needed more so they added more shots. This is something you can do something about. I’d get tested and see!

That's so good they tested you so often. Atleast then your medication is tailored to you and not a one fits all which is a bit like what I feel like!

I'm taking 2 cyclogest a day, at night. I did the same with the fresh transfer and it worked. This time we had FET over a week ago. So far so good . I'm guessing it all depends on our initial results and reason for fertility struggle. It might be worth talking to your clinic if you have any doubts..Good luck!

Hi lovely

Utrogestan is normally 200mg per pessary and Cyclogest is 400mg per pessary. So it sounds like you’re actually on a slightly higher overall dose this time which is good since you had breakthrough bleeding last time.

If I were you, I would ask your clinic to test your levels. It’s easy to check and very simple for your clinic to increase your dose if needed. And having sufficient levels can def affect your success so totally worth checking every cycle, imo. xx

Yes they said they wouldn't test because my lining was fine prior to transfer but I might push for a test as it would put my mind at ease! I agree they should test everyone on each cycle as everyone is different. X

I was on 2x cyclogest a day and I was given prontogest injection for the first 10 days after transfer.

I think everyone will be on totally different levels depending on your body and previous experience, so try not to compare yours to what everyone else is on. I was on 3 x cyclogest after a FET until I had a big bleed at 5 weeks and 4 days. I then automatically got put on 4 x cyclogest and a lubion injection every day for the last 7 weeks. But the clinic actually never tested my levels - which perhaps they should have! Maybe you could speak to your clinic if you’re worried? I had a bleed and thought it was game over but it’s a miracle that I’m 12 weeks now. Def speak to your clinic if you are anxious/worried - maybe they can test your levels? Xx

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I know I shouldn't compare my journey to others but it's so difficult not to 😂 I might ask them to test then as it would make me feel much better. X

Thank you - still hasn’t sunk in to be honest. Yes that sounds like a good plan, good luck! Xx

I was on 2 x cyclogest rectally for both fresh transfers and I had spotting with the second one that got heavier but not with the first. I asked my GP to test my progesterone around OTD just in case and it was very high both times. I'm going to be on 2 x Ultrogestan vaginally and lubion injections for this FET in case the two CPs I had were something to do with poor absorption of progesterone. If your clinic won't test (my NHS clinic wouldn't), it may be worth asking your GP, or there are private doctors or even online labs I think you can use. Best of luck!

I am on 2 Cyclogest per day with my first fresh cycle. When I took Clomid for 6 months I was taking the same and I never bled before stopping taking the progesterone, but always few days after the last pressary. Maybe they can check your progesterone level with a blood test?

Hi, after my 2nd FET I was taking 2×Cyclogest and 2 Lubion injections Am and Pm. I have stopped Lubion after the viable scan and now waiting for week 10 to stop Cyclogest. Good luck 🤗
