Cyst & Norethisterone

Hi everyone, so my cyst is producing hormones and this cycle has been delayed. So frustrating but it is what it is. The clinic have prescribed Norethisterone tablets from day 14 to help flush it out, then another scan on day 20 and hopefully start Buserelin on day 21.

Does anyone have experience of taking this to help get rid of a cyst and was it successful? I'm so worried that I'll get to day 20 and the f****r will still be there!

I don’t have any experience either hun, but just wanted to say I really hope it does do the trick. Will your clinic scan you inbetween to have a check? Or just wait til day 20? Xx

Hi Millbanks. Hopefully it will give your womb something to do and encourage your ovaries to quieten. Then the buserelin will continue to calm your ovaries down. If this doesn't work, they may have to drain the cyst before continuing. Hope it does work. Diane

Oh what a little bugger that cyst has turned out to be. Hopefully the medication will work, and this embie is the one.. and it’s considerately giving you some extra time for treats before the pregnancy restrictions begin xx

Oh what a bummer! I hope it clears within the timeframe hun. I know it’s super annoying but you want to give the next cycle your best shot, you’ve been through too much. It’ll work out and will be all worth it xxx

Oh so sorry lovely. What a pain and hope that pesky cyst goes soon! With our last cycle (and cyst) I was on norithisterone from day 16 for about 10 days (nothing to do with the cyst,just part of the protocol) and by the time I had a scan it had gone. Hope it goes soon for you xx

In case anyone is experiencing the same thing and looking for an answer - my cyst did go with my period. So I had to wait an extra 2 - 3 weeks but as soon as my bleed started I had a scan and it had gone x

What was the outcome? I've just had exactly the same news today, I had my baseline scan and was meant to start my injections but they found a cyst so have to take norethisterone for another 10 days.

I'm also worried it'll still be there.

Ah it’s so frustrating isn’t it. So I did 10 days of norethisterone then had a bleed and a scan on day 2 which showed the cyst had gone. Fingers crossed the same happens for you x

Oh that's comforting news as it says online it can take months! I have two cysts apparently so fingers crossed.

It also depends if it’s producing hormones. Mine was which why we had to stop meds for transfer. But it did go pretty quickly and we started again quickly. Good luck!! Xx
