Everyone says you need your partner to do this. But I did it myself on my bum, standing up leaning against the fridge. The darting and pushing were easy and didn't hurt at all. But I got a bit of bleeding and sore after pulling the needle out. I guess that's because I pulled it out too fast?
Throughout the process, my partner was hiding in the farthest possible corner away from me, shaking in fear, hands over his face...

First my partner heroically offered to do it, then we said maybe it was best for me to try the first time so he could watch and learn. When the time came, he asked if it was OK that he didn't look...ππ
I do an ipad "selfie" to ink a good size target circle first, then it also helps for making sure I poke it right as I'm doing it. Not at an angle and slow, hold a few second and withdraw slow, then don't add pressure.
πππ same situation in my household.I found injections absolutely fine, and yes there was often a bit of blood, thatβs normal. I found them so fine I often left them in to stop and take photos to send to friends π
My partner cringes at all the needles Ive had to inject during this journey!! But bless him he's been there to support.Just out of curiosity may I ask why you are having progesterone injections for your FET? I'm about to start my second FET but have only ever been prescribed the progesterone pessaries
I had a failed fresh transfer with the NHS where I used two Cyclogest pessaries a day. I guess I didnt absorb them well because I have more bowel movements than a average person (2 - 3 times a day). I'm now private and my doctor likes to throw in a cocktail of heavy doses. I am on three types of progesterone: pill, gel, and injection.
Thank you that's useful to know. I'm private too. Had a failed fresh transfer previously so always interesting to know people's experiences are and what to ask questions about.
For my first cycle I was doing progesterone injections (well my husband was) and they were all going well then one day as he extracted the needle, blood just shot everywhere! He always extracted the needle really slowly. I called the emergency nurse and she said that sometimes you can nick a capillary as you extract the needle. I donβt think it necessarily has a direct link to speed of extracting the needle but probs being slower does help? I was really upset but actually everything was fine. I was more concerned about the new carpet than anything else!! I did find the injections made it soo sore. I did lots of massage and waking about after the injections. Good luck xx
Good to know that it could be capillary. Thanks for sharing the knowledge! Haha I don't have a carpet but I did have to wash the blood off my beige lounge pants! xx
